You Have Got to be Kidding Me Ch. 25
Bette: Come on sweet, breath in and then blow all the way out.
Tina turned her head slightly to look at Bette.
Tina: Bette if you don’t be quiet I gonna give you a blow.
I’m just trying to help, Bette huffed.
Tina: Yea I think you helped enough.
Bette continued to hold Tina’s hand but refrain from attempting to coach Tina in pushing.
The doctor however was encouraging Tina to push harder.
I just can’t doc, I’ve given it all I got. Please just take the baby.
The doctor: Come on Mrs. Porter-Kennard you can do it.
Well maybe if my wife was helping me, Tina said in a harsh tone rolling her eyes.
Bette: But…
The doctor: Mrs. Porter-Kennard this is no time to argue the point please help your wife!
Bette in her hormonal state stormed out swaddling all the way down the hallway.
Tina’s parents were standing to the side snickering. They had watched the whole thing unfold. They looked at each other.
Marie: Oh, my.
Joanna: Indeed
Marie: We have to go after her.
Marie started to walk after Bette however Joanna grabbed her hand.
Joanna: Wait let her mother deal with her. She is out in the waiting room. Let’s go check on our daughter.
Marie frown and Joanna laughed knowing her thoughts.
Marie and Joanna eased up to Tina’s bedside.
Tina was crying and still telling the doctor she couldn’t push anymore.
Marie: Tina honey Joanna and I are here for you.
Joanna stood on one side of Tina and Marie on the other side. They stroked Tina’s hair. Tina seemed to calm down some but still whimpered.
Tina: I just can’t push anymore. I’m just too tired and Bette left me.
Tina began to cry a little harder again at the thought of Bette leaving her.
Marie: Dear I am sure she is just outside trying to calm down.
Meanwhile
Mom she is being just plain mean, Bette pouted.
Olivia: Honey she is in labor what did you expect?
Bette: I don’t know. I guess I thought all those stories about women during labor was not true. At least not with my Tee.
Olivia: Well girly she is still your Tee but just in pain.
Bette: Yeah but sometimes I feel like she resents me for being pregnant. When I told her I was just trying to help with her breathing she stated that I have helped enough. I feel like she will always remind me that I gave her no choice in her pregnancy.
Olivia: Bette, Tina may not admit it but I think deep down she knew being with you would be different. I also think she knew she might be different but she repressed it because she didn’t want to believe that her life and her parents life was a lie. However right now I think she is just in pain and wants that pain to go away.
Bette: Yeah, I hate seeing her pain. It hurts me as well. It feels like her pain is my pain and her joy is my joy. Did you experience this with Momma?
Olivia was shocked that Bette called Valcura momma but quickly recovered.
Olivia: Your Momma was so special to me Bette it is hard to described all the things I felt but it did seem that I could feel her emotions as if they were my own.
Bette: I need to go to her.
Olivia nodded with understanding.
The two women embraced and then Bette went back down the hallway with more determination than before. She decided that whatever happened she was staying right there with Tina to see her baby girl enter into this world.

Great to see this fic again. I’m glad Bette was able to put her emotional state aside to be with Tina through the delivery, and Joanna needs to stop being such a jerk to Bette.
