    Chapter 15

“So, where to?” Tina asked when they got inside her car.

“You can drive to the school” Bette answered with a mysteries look on her face.

Tina was not thrilled about that answer. As much as she loved her job, she did not want to spend her free time there. And she knew a lot of other places she would be with Bette rater then the school.

But she did not say anything. Just started the engine and put the car in drive.

Bette saw Tina`s disappointment, but did not say anything.

The drive to the school was quiet. Both lost in their own thoughts.

After 15 minutes they reach the school. Tina stopped the car and got out. Bette followed. Tina started to walk towards the school.

“And where are you going?” Bette asked with a smile on her face.

Tina stopped and looked at Bette with confusion.

“Aren`t we going to go inside?” she asked.

“Yes we are going inside, but not inside the school “Bette said. Loving the tease.

Tina just looked at Bette like a big question mark.

“Sorry for teasing you Tina, but I told you to drive her, cause we can walk the rest of the way. It`s hard to find parking space outside where we are going.” Bette said, and grabbed Tina`s hand.

“I got to say, I am glad we are not going inside the school. It`s not my kind of enjoyment on a Saturday evening.” Tina answered.

    “I know, It`s not mine either. “

“But what we are going to do is not a usual Saturday evening activity for most people. But I hope you will enjoy it even so. “

They walked hand in hand for a few blocks. Bette finally stopped in front of a big brown building. A broken sign was attached to the wall. Some of the letters was gone, but Tina still could read it. It stood: Mary`s orphanage.

Bette looked at Tina, when she understood where they were going. A part of her was scared that Tina would turn and walk away. She did not know how Tina felt about children. And especially not homeless children. But this was something she wanted to share with Tina.  And she could only hope that Tina would let her share it.

    1. I love this story. I love how Bette has opened up about her childhood and has let Tina in. But I am not a happy camper when it comes to the former friend of Bette’s.

    2. Awwww geez, who the heck is coming back? Bette doesn’t need that, neither does Tina. Please don’t let it be jodi and if it is, let Bette have enough strength to say goodbye, and kiss my grits. Lovely update. Thanks for posting. PPS
