    Young Folks – Chapter 16

    “I…” Helena began.

Somehow, she found it impossibly difficult to say those few simple words.

    “I…”

El felt his heart drop when he realized that Helena wasn’t going to say it. He released her hand and pulled back his own.

Helena watched remorsefully as the look in El’s eyes saddens. She couldn’t and didn’t want to tell him that she loves him when she didn’t mean it.

    “I’m sorry, El.”

El ran his hand through his hair. He had just told his amazing girlfriend that he loved her and all he got in return was a, “I’m sorry, El.”

What the hell was that suppose to mean? He knew that she didn’t love him but does it mean that she never will?

El looked into her eyes, “Will you ever be able to tell me that you love me?”

Helena kept quiet, looking right back into his brown eyes.

El was a great guy, very sweet, sensitive and caring towards her. He was the perfect boyfriend any girl could ask for. But, she just didn’t love him that way. And she wasn’t even sure if she could or would ever love him that way.

    “I don’t know…”

El buried his face into his hands. He wasn’t an imbicile, he knew what ‘I don’t know’ meant. It was just a more indirect way of saying no.

Helena watched with guilt as he remained unmoved in that position.

    “I’m sorry, El. I really am…”

When he finally looked up at her, he asked, “Why?”

She kept quiet, unsure of what his question was referring to.

“Is it because of Bette?” El asked flatly, piercing her eyes with his cold brown ones.

Her breath got caught in her throat.

The answer was obvious but he couldn’t bring himself to believe it unless it came for her mouth.

“Is it or not?” He asked again, raising his voice which startled Helena.

Diners and the waitress from the other table turned to look at their direction.

“I’m sorry, I should haven’t raised my voice…” El let out a heavy sigh.

    1. This was good! Now let’s just hope that Helena won’t walk away. I hope that Sierra knows that talk wasn’t for her and do the right thing and back down. By the way welcome back!

    2. Wow! What a mess these two have gotten themselves in. See what happens when your a coward. I really wish Helena would stop hurting people and saying she’s sorry…..if she was sorry why does she keep doing it, what a dumb ass. Enough is enough. I don’t care what Bette said to that Sierra girl it’s time for her to come clean and go for it. Tell Sierra that she was fuck up on beer and weed and mistaken her for Helena. That goes for Helena too, stop being a wuss and be your own woman and tell Bette she’s in love with her.

    3. oh my god, that’s so funny. can’t say that i’ve been in a similar situation, but that is just so damn funny. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

    4. First of all welcome back, i’ve been waiting for you to post again. Second, El really is a great guy. As hurt as he is, still loving Helena enough to tell her to go find Bette before it’s too late. Third, Bette never said Helena’s name so Sierra thinks she is talking to her. Fourth, if Helena tries to walk away let Bette sober up quickly and catch her before she can leave. And finally, please post again soon, I’ll be waiting.
