Heather Peace Web series – Interview

Musician and actress Heather Peace has announced that her much anticipated UK tour documentary will launch as a four part webseries on her website www.heatherpeace.com on Monday 20th June. The documentary, made by filmmaker Patrick Stutt of Shoebox Media and co-produced by Wire Media, gives an access all areas look at Heather’s sell out 12 date tour which took place in April 2011 from Belfast to London. The footage gives fans an exclusive look at backstage footage, offers twelve full length songs and shares the ups and downs of living life on a tour bus for two weeks. I had an opportunity to do a follow-up interview with Heather regarding her tour, documentary and her growing music career.

LanaRus: This was your first UK Tour: what are your impressions, thoughts, or highlights?

Heather Peace: We had an amazing time. It was pretty nerve-wracking performing to 600 people sometimes but I loved every minute of it. I can’t really pick a highlight, it was just great meeting the fans and doing something that I love every night.

LR: The life on a road, what is it like?

HP: You can see on the tour documentary that it was pretty silly and a lot of fun. I was also very happy to be home and to wear nice clean clothes again when it was all over!!

LR: Whose idea it was to create videos from the road and what was the best part about it?

HP: When we announced the UK tour we were asked by lots of people if there would be a tour DVD. As my fanbase is so international and because we fund everything ourselves we decided a web series would be a good way to let everyone view it, keep the costs low and it is a more fun way of doing it. Basically the four parts of the series show lots of backstage footage, activity on the tour bus and full songs from the gigs. It gives a little insight into what it was really like for us on tour. And if you couldn’t make a gig then it gives you a taster of the shows!

LR: In one short video that was posted during the tour, you had to go home and rest for a few days because you lost your voice. How often does this happen and what do you usually do?

HP: This was the first time I had done such a big tour that ran on consecutive days and I just underestimated how much strain that it would put on my voice. I didn’t actually lose it but I saw a doctor who warned that if I didn’t rest it for a couple of days then I would lose it and that would have messed up the rest of the entire too. I was gutted to make that decision, I hate letting people down and even though we reschedule the date quickly that’s the one thing I’d change if I could.
