L-word: So you said that filming second season was tough and challenging, and you also did concerts, which could be pretty draining. What’s your favorite thing to recharge?

 

HP: Walking on a beach in Brighton and we’ve got some amazing art galleries in Brighton. My favorite day would be just to walk from my house into town with my girlfriend, stopping at cafes, stopping at art galleries. We’ve got our eye on a painting at the moment in Brighton. We’ve been back four times to have a look at it because it’s very expensive. And each time you go back and you think, “Yeah, I’m almost there, I’m almost ready to buy it.” That sort of thing. And then maybe picking up some fresh food down in town, some fresh fish and then go back and cook a nice meal. That’s me. Out in the open air is me, definitely.

L-word: I think walking is great and very beneficial.

 

HP: Oh, I just love it. We call it “pottering”. I don’t get to be at home very much so “pottering” would be you being in the house with just your music on and you might do a bit of cleaning, or you might look in that cupboard that’s upset you for a long time and you’d reorganize your cupboard. Then you might go put your CD collection back in order and things like that but you do it all very slowly with some music on and maybe a glass of wine. And that’s “pottering”. I’m doing it at slow pace, with no pressure. I can spend days pottering.

 

L-word: It sounds like it really works. Name five things that people or fans don’t know about you.

 

HP: Five? By now I think they know all about me.

 

L-word: Ok, then name three.

 

HP: I’m learning Spanish. I’ve been doing that for a long time. I have the CD’s in the car. I used to date boys. Do a lot of people know that?

 

L-word: Well, you mentioned your boyfriend Philip a few times.

 

HP: Oh yeah. Well, I had a cat before I had the dog. I didn’t like dogs but I do now.

 

L-word: Bungles is adorable.
