Heather Peace began her professional career back in 1997 with nearly two years in Rep Theater, later appearing in major drama series on British TV, while also pursuing career in music. To a lot of our readers Heather is best known as DS Sam Murray in the BBC drama “Lip Service” that was recently renewed for its second season. I had a chance to meet Heather at L8 Convention in Brighton and we chatted about her acting career; Sam Murray, who was the easiest character to play; her passion for music; and what it means to be romantic.

B&TF: I was surprised when I heard you say at the Q&A’s that your mom’s last name was Lithuanian.

 

Heather Peace: My mom’s name was actually Dimuanitis but when they moved to England, nobody could spell it. So the paperboy used to put Dimuantes and not Dimuanitis because it sounds like a British disease for them (laughing).

 

B&TF: Exactly, everything that ends with –itis sounds like it.

 

HP: Yeah, yeah, so they changed it to Dimuantes.

 

B&TF: Well, I’m Russian in America and to be honest, I haven’t heard about you until I watched “Lip Service”. I really liked Sam because she was so honest and strong. Frankie was cool but in a bad-girl kind of way.

 

HP: You know, this is great. After Shane, everybody loves a bad girl and everybody was expecting Frankie to be like Shane, so the reaction to Sam was unbelievable. Maybe we all are just moving on. Like I was saying earlier today, maybe we all just over trying to make people better. Maybe we just want someone who’s already well-adjusted and easy to be with.

 

B&TF: I like Frankie. She had an interesting story with her birth and everything. I felt sorry for her a lot but I was also thinking, “What the hell are you doing?”
