The names of the stars alone should bring a lot of attention to the series but the subject matter is even more attractive. According to many people involved, the series was brought to life because of sexism and ageism in Hollywood. Among the issues are that the women are judged on how they look and that it’s harder for them to find jobs than men when they are approaching 40. All episodes in the series are female-centered and are named after the main characters.

Jennifer Beals called her experience on Wigs “empowering” because it will allow her to go back to Hollywood “with a stronger voice.” The series, in which Jennifer will appear, is called “Lauren.” She is playing a commanding officer in Afghanistan, dealing with an assault on one of the female soldiers in her command.
