Our beloved Jennifer Beals is going to be back on TV, starring in TNT’s new medical sci-fi drama, PROOF. The show, executive-produced by former TNT star Kyra Sedgwick, will focus on the life of surgeon Dr. Kathryn Russo. She’s a born skeptic, but will start investigating supernatural cases — hauntings, reincarnations — after the death of her teenage son.
Written by Rob Bragin and directed by Alex Graves, Proof centers on Russo will be protrayed as a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond? Sedgwick exec produces with Jill Littman, Tom Jacobson, Bragin and Graves.
Joe Morton (“Scandal”) plays Dr. Charles Russell (nee Oliver Stanton), “the serious, dry and – naturally – intimidating head of Katherine’s hospital.”
Annie Thurman (“The Hunger Games”) will play Sophie, the teenage daughter of dying internet mogul Ivan Turing (yet to be cast), who plans to leave his estate to Katherine in order to fund her investigations.
Callum Blue plays Peter Van Owen, “a charming, a best-selling author who claims to be a psychic medium.”
Caroline Rose Kaplan will play Janel Flynn, the annoyingly young, smart and cute in a nerdy way assistant to billionaire Ivan Turing.
Edi Gathegi will play Zed, a former refugee from the Sudan with a gentle soul in an intimidatingly tall and lanky frame
Alex Graves (“666 Park Avenue”) will direct the pilot.
Beals has other irons in the fire. She is Executive Producing a new HBO program, LAUGHS UNLIMITED. Billie Crown is “an Army medic who returns from serving a tour in Afghanistan only to find that her husband is divorcing her and taking custody of their daughter” and must now hide “her PTSD from family and colleagues so she can be reinstated as a Sacramento police officer, and so she can reconnect with her daughter.” The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie as well as Jennifer Beals and Adena Chawke are executive producing the project – the title of which refers to “a comedy club where Billie and her fellow cops hang out to relax and blow off steam”. Melonie Diaz (Fruitvale Station) has been tapped for the lead role .

Awesome on both fronts can’t wait to see her on tv again
JB is now filming the pilot episode in Vancouver at the Vancouver Public Library that is often used for TV and film movies. Inside it looks like the corridors of a hospital.
