Katherine Brooks, the director and writer of one of our favorite movies, LOVING ANNABELLE, is nominated for two “Shorty” Awards.

The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media, recognizing the people and organizations producing real-time short form content on across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Foursquare, and the rest of the social Web.

Every year, millions of people visit the Shorty Awards site to tweet nominations for their favorite social media content creators. All those tweets culminate in a highly anticipated awards ceremony that celebrates the winners in dozens of featured categories.

Brooks is being very creative in campaigning for votes. She posted to Facebook:

If Loving Annabelle wins the shorty award (currently in 5th place) I will release 6 hours of behind the scenes footage from the movie so get to voting. :)

Only 4% of the membership of Director’s Guild of America is female. Voting for Kat is a vote for women. And for those who don’t know her story, she had a very hard life and at one time was homeless.
