The Season five filming of Lost Girl is underway and I don’t know about you, but I am both nervous as hell and excited as all get out. As usual, the powers that be keep a tight lid on what’s in store for us letting our imaginations run wild on twitter, tumblr and chat rooms across the globe until it airs.
Executive producer Vanessa Piazza recently said in a Huffington Post interview, “The group is all back together again (in the two-part season premier). A big theme this season is ‘family,’ and these are all Bo’s family.” Whether or not the gang includes Kenzi is a question we will all be awaiting with baited breath.
I’ve seen mentioned in articles a tease involving Bo’s quest to bring Kenzi back. Something to the effect of anytime you crossover, you risk bringing something awful back. That sounds ominous, of course what would this show be without a big, bad evil supernatural foe? Current show runner Michael Grassi had only this to say about the upcoming season. “The premiere has a lot of surprises. A lot of doors open, but others close. It sends Bo in a new direction.”
No doubt Bo will have an interesting thirteen episodes. The poor girl never gets a break and since she found the Fae, or rather, the Fae found her, her life has been turned upside down. Anna Silk commented that in the same article that the season opener would deal with Kenzi’s loss. She also had this to say about her character’s journey, “Bo was taken in different directions last year and she wasn’t herself a lot of the time (Hmm, I hadn’t noticed), and now she’s very clear headed about her loss. She’s determined.”
I love determined Bo. When she knows what she wants and what she has to do, nobody is more badass. So I am definitely looking forward to that after last seasons ‘deer in the headlights, forget my family and run off with the guy from the train’ Bo. I did, however, love the part when she finally took ownership of being the hero and decided it was time to put her foot down.
With that said, I have a few other wishes for the upcoming season. Of course, I want Doccubus back in some way, or another. The finale once again solidified their feelings for one another and Bo wore the necklace Lauren bought for her. I’m not alone in wishing we could have some kind of scene where they finally have a decent talk. The two have had some of the most pivotal moments of the show, but rarely get a chance to show how they worked it all out. The most heartfelt conversation they’ve had was season three where Lauren had to accept that she wasn’t enough to sustain Bo. Who can forget the phenomenal performances by Anna and Zoie in that one?
If for no reason other than their chemistry is off the charts (Which it totally is. There isn’t a measuring device that goes high enough for what these two bring when they are on screen together), then for the very fact that their scenes have some of the most feels, from laughing to sighing to bawling your eyes out, nothing else besides losing Kenzi has come close in four seasons. So I’d like more of that please.
Some will disagree here, but I’d like to see Dyson and Tamsin have something substantial together. This is not to eliminate the triangle, I doubt that will ever happen, but because I like both characters and would like to see them find some happiness. Dyson loves Bo, we get it. Who doesn’t? But it’s become increasingly evident that while Bo loves him, it’s not in the same way. Plus, it’s intriguing since 4×07 when Flora Blooms said he had yet to find his person.
Tamsin has had her own journey and still has much story to tell. She was obviously a big player in many of the Fae events in history such as putting Rainer on the train and her mysterious boss that hired her to find Bo. She seems to be out to make things right in her rebirth. Tamsin and Dyson have their flaws and both care deeply for Bo. I think two loyal, passionate warriors like her and Dyson would have a lot to offer one another.
Will Bo find the other Hell Shoe? I sure hope not. It does make me wonder though, who is the one that is supposed to wear them and what did Tamsin see when she took Kenzi to Valhalla? They were hideous. Maybe she saw a vision of Bo wearing them. Maybe Kenzi got a glimpse and ridiculed how horribly unfashionable they were. Besides, I sure wouldn’t want Lauren to put them on seeing as how death is the only way to get them off. Just say no to the shoes please.
I’d really like to see Lauren in the dark Fae lab. Do they make black lab coats? Although, after her stunt with the Morrigan, I’m more excited about the possibilities of her using that power over the Fae and what her statement to Bo regarding them hunting her of “Let them” will mean for her future.
I do wonder if the writer’s will toy with Lauren making herself Fae at any time. We know she has had to consider it, even though she has her ethics on testing. I’d like to see what it means for her and Bo.
I’d like to see Trick stop being a pompous ass and the Morrigan learning what it is to be human. Finally, and I know this is on everyone’s list, I want Kenzi back and I want her to find happiness again and maybe she has some cool super power after coming back from the dead. I just hope Bo doesn’t have to trade anything to do with Lauren for it to happen.
I’m confident that whatever they throw at me I will enjoy, but if the good writers of Lost Girl could find it in their hearts to grant these wishes it would be an amazing season.

I agree with everything you said. I would love to see Bo and Lauren finally have that talk they’ve been needing to have. I swear if they have Bo blame Lauren for Kenzi walking to her death because she was off saving her from Massimo, I will absolutely shit! I think Dyson and Tamsin could make a great couple. I too hope to see Kenzi come back and find happiness, maybe with Bruce.
