What happened in the finale of season 5?

Maura’s boyfriend visits her in her office – he tells her that he figured out a plan. He was offered a full time position to teach at a university out of state, but he doesn’t want to leave Maura. So, he went back to the university and they offered him a job in Boston – only it will only be part time and he won’t receive tenure. Maura isn’t sure if she wants him to make that kind of sacrifice for her, she feels guilty. You know what happens next… Buh-BYE Jack!

Jane is trying to cheer Maura up after her break-up, she offers to take her on a hike or they could pretend to be French – Maura isn’t in the mood.

Jane and Maura are both single at the end of Season 5. You don’t need to know anything else.
