    Completely Incomplete – (Chapter: 40 and 41)

When I opened my eyes again, I was in a hospital room. Or, part of a hospital room. A partition separated me from the noisy person next to me, talking loudly on a cell phone. Weren’t you not supposed to use cell phones in hospitals?

Anyway, I tried to move around a bit, but my ribs were still sore as hell, and if I could deal with the searing pain I experienced when I tried to sit up, then the spinning room would knock me right back down again.

Luckily, a nurse walked in a few minutes later. She set a glass of water down on a tray next to me, poked me around a bit, and asked me some questions about how I was feeling. Been there, done that.

“Um, can I use a phone?” I asked. She nodded and pulled the phone from the bedside next to me.

“Press 9 to make a call outside of the hospital. Just be aware that you’re responsible for all long-distance charges,” she told me. I gave her a brief smile and quickly dialed my parents’ number. I felt it was only right to call them first, despite my urgent need to talk to Ashley.

    “Hello?” my dad answered.

    “Hi Dad.”

    “Spencer! Oh, God, you’re alright!”

“Yeah, I’m fine. The hospital told me they called you, though?” I inquired.

“They did, but they only told us the details of the accident and that you were in stable condition. Your mother’s been on the phone all day trying to get information from old friends who work near there, but we hadn’t heard anything. What’s the diagnosis?”

“Oh, well, I have a couple fractured ribs, but they’ll heal. And I had a bad concussion, but they said there wouldn’t be lasting damage. Oh, and I have a cut on my forehead.”

    “How are you feeling?”

“I’ve been better,” I joked lightly. “My head really hurts… so do my ribs. But I was just sleeping, so I guess it’s not unbearable.”

“Good, good. We wanted to come but LAX shut down after the news got out about your plane. Your mother and I will be there tomorrow, though.”

“You don’t have to…” I said, although in secret, I wanted them to be there.

    3. You’re killing me here. Two updates and they still haven’t had THE conversation. The conversation about what was going to happen now and what they are to each other exactly. I need to know what’s going on. So sweet of Ashley to run to Spencer’s side. Just be together already, you know you both want it!

    4. So this was Ashley’s reality check right? After her emotional reaction to finding out that Spencer was alright, they can’t just keep their status quo. *sigh* Once this story is over, I’m going to have some serious withdrawal
