Okay fine.

Tina opened her legs slightly and lowered the pregnancy test stick to that it was resting below her opening. She released the urine she had been holding in and when she felt some of it run over the end of the pregnancy stick she pulled it out from between her legs. She held it out for Bette to put it on the counter but Bette just raised one eyebrow and shook her head no. Tina laughed as she rolled her eyes and finished peeing. She wiped herself then stood up pulling her pants up with her. It had been a little over one year since Tina and Bette were able to reconcile after Bettes affair with Candace and it had been the greatest year they ever spent together. They took the time to fall in love again and this time around everything seemed a little bit more magical. They had been talking about having a baby again and Tina agreed to try and mother a child once more. But she had one condition. If at any point Bette felt even the slightest bit of her old fears returning or if Tina sensed that Bette was unsure about what she wanted Tina was out. She could raise this baby on her own and as much as she loved Bette she was not going to stand by and let Bette hurt her again. Tina had grown so much more independent since the last time they tried this and Bette knew this was not the same woman who had become so submissive and subservient as the Tina of old. This Tina was just like the Tina she fell in love with seven years ago, and this Tina knew exactly what she wanted.

The other change that they made this time around was that Tina would keep working until the end of her second trimester. When Tina had stopped working altogether she felt like she lost a part of who she was and she saw how this affected Bette. Tina needed her sense of independence and Bette respected that. Bette was worried that Tina might tire herself out but Tina assured her that if she felt like it was putting too much stress on her body that she would just take her maternity leave earlier. Tina was working for Oscar full time now and Bette had gotten a substantial raise at the CAC from the success of Provocations. They were financially stable and Bette knew that they didnt really need Tinas income but she was happy with the fact that Tina was strong enough to stand her ground. Bette had gotten so used to the way Tina would just bend to her wishes and she knew that was a major problem they had the last time around.

They had talked for weeks about the possibility of having a child again and what it would take for both of them to be able to get through this. Tina explained to Bette that she needed her to be there for her both physically and more importantly emotionally. Bette explained that she did have her fears about raising a child, but Tina said that as long as she was honest about those fears that they could get through this together. They were almost being too cautious as to ensure that history did not repeat itself, and both ladies knew that this was their second chance to raise their family. Alice, Shane and Dana didnt know that they were discussing the possibility of having children together again and Bette and Tina wanted to keep it a secret until they were absolutely sure it was what they wanted to do.

The issue of who the donor should be was brought to the table again and this time Bette said it didnt matter to her what race the child was as long as both her and Tina approved of the donor. They researched extensively on donor clinics, and found a seemingly trustworthy one just outside of Beverly Hills. Tina and Bette went down to the clinic and after talking with one of the counselors there decided that this was the place they should use. The place did thorough background checks and Tina felt satisfied that they would get a suitable match. After weeks of talking about possible donors they decided on a thirty three year old half Caucasian, half African American man who was a lawyer for a prestigious law firm in downtown LA. They laughed and said it was the best compromise, and one week ago had finally decided to do the insemination. They did it just like last time, in their home, in their bed, ***** in love as Tina had put it, and Tina never felt more loved than when she looked into Bettes eyes as Bette gently emptied the contents of the syringe into Tina. They laughed afterwards that they finally believed the old saying if at first you dont succeed, and Bette was positive that this pregnancy would result in the birth of their son or daughter.

Bette was happy to be involved in every aspect of Tinas pregnancy, but Tina thought she might be trying a little too hard. Bette just said she didnt want to mess anything up this time and Tina laughed when Bette said she wanted to be there when Tina took her pregnancy test. Tina said she would be fine on her own, but Bette followed her into the bathroom and stood in front of her as Tina urinated on the stick. Tina felt kind of odd having Bette there, even though Alice had been there last time. It was the way Bette was intently watching her that made Tina a little shy to use the bathroom in front of her and Bette finally got the message and backed up a few steps.

You know babe, it takes like ten minutes or so to get the results.

It is so grossI cant believe you let Alice watch you do this.

Its not like I gave her an up close and personal view Betteand plus she wasnt watching me as closely as you were.

They laughed again and as Tina washed her hands Bette walked up behind her and wrapped her arms around her waist. Bette gently bit down on Tinas shoulder and Tina wiggled a little at the sensation. Tina turned around and wrapped her arms around Bettes neck. She kissed her gently before whispering into her ear.

You know babe, I heard the second trimester of pregnancy is the horniest time of your life.

Tina kind of wiggled her eyebrows at Bette and Bette couldnt help but laugh. She missed these times when her and Tina could be so goofy with each other and Bette leaned in and gently brushed her lips against Tinas. Tina smiled into this and gently pushed Bette off of her and grabbed her hand pulling her out of the bathroom. Bette followed and when Tina flopped down on the couch Bette scooted in next to her pulling her into her arms. Bette played with Tinas hair as she asked her a question.

Baby, do you think we can really do this? I mean do you think we can really raise a child?

Tina turned and looked up at Bette. She looked into her eyes and saw how scared Bette was, not of actually raising a child, but of being a good parent. Tina knew Bettes deepest fears and the emotional bond between a parent and child was one of them. Bette never really had a strong bond with her mother since she died when Bette was young and Bettes relationship with her father was more of a pride issue than anything else. Bette was always trying so hard to please her father with everything she did and when he didnt approve of what she did it always got to her. Tina knew that Bette was scared that as this child got older she would turn into her father and Tina almost felt tears come to her eyes as she realized that was the one thing that scared Bette the most.

Yes babywe can do this. We will make excellent parents.

Bette kissed the top of Tinas head and they just sat there for a little while holding each other. All of a sudden Bette jumped up and practically threw Tina off of her. She ran to the bathroom and when she didnt return for a few minutes Tina finally got up and followed her. Tina entered the bathroom and was rendered speechless at what she saw. Bette was sitting on the ground with her back to the toilet holding the pregnancy test and crying. Tina quickly knelt down beside her and wrapped her arms around Bette. Tina thought the test was negative and Bette was just frustrated that they couldnt get pregnant again, but when she finally got the test out of Bettes firm grip she felt her eyes instantly well up with tears.

Its positive baby.

Tina smiled as she sat there holding Bette. She knew that Bette was more terrified than she was but she would be strong for the both of them. Bette may be invincible to the rest of the world, but to Tina she was a big softie. Tina knew Bette better than anyone and she knew when Bette needed to be challenged and when Bette needed to be taken care of. Tina let Bette cry on her shoulder a little before pulling her up to eye level.

We are going to do it baby, we are going to have our family.

Yes we areoh Tina I love you so much.

I love you too babe.

Bette smiled at Tina as she stood up and pulled Tina to her feet. They walked back into the living room and at that exact moment the phone rang. Bette looked at Tina with a funny smile on her face as she picked up the phone.

Hello?

Hey Bette its Alice.

Oh hey Al. Whats up?

Well we were heading to the Planet and wanted to see if you guys wanted to join us?

Actually, why dont you guys come over here for lunch? We can order take out and just hang out.

Okay sure, sounds good. Ill call Shane and let her know, but Dana and I should be there in about fifteen minutes.

Okay bye.

Tina looked at Bette with a questioning look and Bette just smiled at her.

Come on T, how long did you think we could keep this a secret from them?

Tina laughed as Bette went to look for the take out menu from their favorite Chinese restaurant. Bette placed the order then grabbed her keys to go pick up the food. She made Tina promise to wait until she got back with the food before saying anything and as she was walking out the door she gave Tina the sweetest kiss on the lips. Tina smiled as she watched Bette head out to get the food and she sighed contentedly. Now this is how it was supposed to be, she thought as she waited for Alice and Dana to come over. Tina knew that they still had some rough times ahead with the pregnancy and everything, but she knew that this time Bette was really going to be there for her. Tina felt a smile creep across her face as she thought about what it would be like to raise a family with Bette and before she knew it Alice and Dana were pounding on the door. Tina let them in and the three of them sat around talking and waiting for Bette to get back. Tina knew their news would shock everyone but she felt confident that this time they would get it right.
