    6 Months- chapter 8

A week had passed since Bette had left for New York and the girls still had no idea that she was no longer in LA.  After Tina revealed to Alice Bette’s infidelity, the girls all felt that their allegiance should be with Tina, but it had been six months since that time and they missed Bette terribly.  Alice had never had so little contact in all of the years that she had known her.  She knew though, that Bette was really trying to work things out, for both herself and Tina.  She felt that she should give Bette the space that she seemed to need, but knew that things would have to change sooner rather than later.

She had been thinking about Bette a lot lately and Alice wanted to get their friendship back on track.  These 2-3 week periods with no contact was not a relationship and she wanted that to change.  She made a mental note to give Bette a call this week to set up a night for dinner, a movie or just drinking, whatever she wanted.

Just as she was thinking of when to call Bette, in walked Tina, Shane and Dana.  Shane and Dana looked the same as usual, but Tina looked, “what was the word” Alice thought to herself, “ragged”.  Ragged, not an adjective usually used in reference to Tina Kennard.  She knew that the break up had been the worst period in Tina’s life, but she also assumed that she would be improving by now.  She was dating someone, for God’s sake.  “If that is not moving on”, Alice thought, “I don’t know what is”.

She knew that Tina had tried to put on a brave front in the times that both she and Bette had been in the same room, but it was never that successful.  Tina was fragile and this new relationship did not seem to be helping matters.

The three women sat down at the same time, looking at Alice and saying hello.

“Well, that’s good timing, all of you getting here at once.  While little ol’ me is just hangin’ all by herself”.

Shane just rolled her eyes, Dana apologized and Tina looked vacant.

    1. Bette connects them all. Alice and Bette have been friends for longer than the others and she should tell Alice about leaving before she finds out on her own. Very good writing again.

    2. Thanks for all the chapters your on a roll. So Tina was putting up a facade infront of Bette. I think she better sort herself out because one day she’ll realise she wants Bette and it will be too late.
