Gone Ashtray XX
I know it might sound a little bit like a leitmotiv, but please tell me what you thought about this part. At least, let me know you read it ;-)
I want you to take me to a place you like to go to. Lets say the one you told me about, where this Sasha introduced you. Raine told Jenny as they were talking in her boudoir.
Jenny nodded. She wasnt sure it was a good idea, afraid Raine might not like the place, be deceived, and then Jenny would have to make it up to her, would have to go through her criticism, reproving look that made Jenny crumble, beg for forgiveness.
This woman had a power over her and instead of scaring Jenny, it made her want to be with her all the more. She believed it was her self-destructing side, which Freud had talked about : Thanatos. Raine was definitely embodying Thanatos, and not Eros and she was slowly tearing the Eros in Jenny to pieces.
They left the boudoir, and headed for the club. She slightly nodded to the bouncer who recognised her and let her enter, closely followed by Raine. The light was as usual very dim. One could only make out shadows moving to a low jazz music, in rhythm, bodies pressed against each other, practically making love, or actually, when one got closer, making love. The moans escaping the womans throats added to the sensual aspect of the place and created a continuous accompaniment to the music.
Jenny didnt linger and walked straight to another room, down a dark corridor. The other room contrasted with the first one. There was an electris white light, with at some places blue neon tubes. There was electro music playing, a song Jenny recognised as being from Miss Kittin. There wasnt any safe darkness. One could watch without embarassement others making love. Woman were naked, or in dessous, their skin glimmering in the light, reflecting it. People were literally glowing. Ecstatic faces, woman clutching the walls or their partners, softly crying out.
Raine smiled, and Jenny finally let go of the tension, seeing that she was pleased. She relaxed as Raines hands found her *****, squeezing them from behind.
See that woman over there, staring at us ? Raine whispered in Jennys ear, and Jenny nodded I want you to go over there and ***** her, form behind, make her beg for it, without ever breaking eye contact with me. I want both of you to look at me, when you come.
And Jenny moved away, doing as she was told. The woman docilely let Jenny grab her waist, her hands slowly moving to her thighs and then disappearing in her panties. She whispered to her to look at the woman not far away from them.
Her eyes never left Raines as she felt her own ***** and the womans, remembering Raines words : To write you have to understand the act of writing. Its not an act of love as some people might have said it. Neither is it an act of voyeurism. You are like a God, you know everything about your characters, even more than they know about themselves. Its like making love and being watched. Its love and voyeurism. But theres something more to it. The euphoria, the pleasure, and at the same time the shame, the fear.
She closed her eyes, feeling the body against her rise for the last time, frozing and shaking when the woman came.
She was leaving the court, under the cheers and applause of the fans. She had beaten her opponent and hadnt given her the chance to win a single set nor a point. She entered the locker room, going over to Kate and taking her in for a hug. But she didnt feel the body in her arms respond.
Dana Kate slowly whispered, her voice slightly anxious though controlled. Dana hadnt heard her speak like that before and she opened her eyes, frowning. Kate pushed her gently away. And only then did Dana notice the two other people in the room. A man and a woman she had never seen before. Both wearing working suits.
Ms Fairbanks the woman started the tests on drugs we made of you last month revealed a high amount on illegal products in your blood. The Tennis League has decided to strike you off from the tennis player lists. Youre suspended for five years she went on, coldly looking at Dana and then both left the room.
Dana slouched to the ground, her life crashing in front of her. Tears started streamng down her face. And she stayed in this foetal position, desperately hugging herself as if to prevent anything from the outside to reach her.
Her body smashed against something hard, stone and she wondered if she had gone to heaven. This would be a problem, she thought, since it meant she had to change her initial belief that a place such as heaven didnt exist. She placed her palms on the ground, marvelling in the feeling. Isnt heaven supposed to be in the sky, with soft clouds ? Is this a modern version of it, with tar ? Is God also dealing with oil problems to build this ? Or did I land in ***** ? she thought. Panick stroke Alice and she pushed herself from the ground. The first thing she saw was the water and she stumbled backwards, her back hitting something hard too. She turned around and wondered what it was.
Then she heard a wild laugh, from above and she almost fell to her knees : the moment of truth had come, she would know if she had gone to ***** or heaven.
But instead, it was Sashas voice that came, clearly laughing at her : Do you plan on coming back up here someday or do you prefer to stay there, and kiss the ground like youve been doing for the past ten minutes ?
Alice frowned so hardly it hurt her forehead. Her whole body was aching, definitely not a sensation one should have in heaven she thought. She looked up and saw Sasha, bent over the barrier.
Dont tell me you didnt know they were working on the bridge and had to build scaffolding ? Well, you just landed on one of them. And let me tell you, you definitely should consider a career in comedies, youre just too funny.
Alice grunted, thanking the darkness so that Sasha couldnt see her cheeks that had turned bright red and were burning.
Once back on top of the bridge, at Sashas side, she slouched down, exhausted, every inch of her body screaming out of pain.
Sasha sat down next to her : Look at it on the bright side, now you have a really good storyline for an article : How I tried to jump off the bridge but didnt succeed. You would cover not only your personal experience but also the work being done on the bridge.
Ive been fired Alice sharply said, her mouth aching as well. She checked with her tongue if she still had all her teeth.
Uh came Sashas embarassed voice well then youll have a funny story to tell to your children.
There was a silence, both lost in each others thoughts. And suddenly Alice burst out into laughter, not being able to stop nor control it. Sasha questioningly looked at her and then started laughing too. It was infectious, sort of a nervous break down, a way to let all the tension fall. And they stayed there, not moving, Alices head on Sashas shoulder, smiling goofily and sometimes laughing some more, with no apparent reason. They witnessed the sun rising, the pink-orange coloured sky, the first cars from people going to work. The world coming back to life.
