Tina was making dinner when the phone rang. She hadn’t talked to Bette for a few hours so she got excited and ran over to the phone. “Hello?” she answered slightly out of breath. “What do you think your doing?” came the quick angry question. “Helena?” Tina replied in surprise. “Care to explain why your lawyer is representing my ex?” Helena asked. Tina was confused, she had no idea what she was talking about. “Um, I really have no idea what your talking about Helena” Tina explained. “Well, Winnie and I had a meeting with our lawyers today.” she continued to explain the situation. Tina was still confused, she had no idea how Winnie got hooked up with Joyce. Tina gathered that the only reason Helena was so angry was because she knew if was now going to be a fight for her to win the case. Helena didn’t say goodbye, she just hung up. Tina was extreemly flustered when she got off the phone. She threw the phone down on the counter then suddenly she felt a horrid pain in her stomach, she let out a painfull gasp and doubled over.

George sat down in the chair across from Bette’s desk and stayed quiet. Bette pushed her work aside and proped herself up on her elbows giving George all of her attention. She looked at George waiting for her to speak but she still said nothing.

Bette: “What going on?”

George: “Im drowning here” she said looking down at herself

Bette: “It looks that way” she smiled looking at the puddle at Georges feet.

George: “I need your advice”

Bette: “Well if I can help, I will”

George: “I slept with Alice” she blurted out

Bette smiled and laughed due to both amusment and shock. She leaned back in her chair and brought her hand up to her chin.

Bette: “Well if im going to help you I have to know what happened.” she smirked.

George huffed and told her to whole story. She explained how she left and then she told her about what had just happened.

Bette: “And she didn’t let you in?”

George: “Nope”

Bette: “Wow, I would think that would have worked for sure. Nobody knows it but Alice is very caring and loving when it comes to her partners. She usually only sleeps with people that she has feeling for. You screwed up when you left but she will get over that, you just need to give her time. I guess now is the time for both of you to really think about everything. Romantic gestures really do help though” she hinted.

Before the conversation could continue Bette’s phone rang. She leaned over and picked up the reciver. “Bette Porter” she answered. “What’s wrong T?…..are you ok?….Im leaving right now…..Tina you need to go to the hospital….ok…ok…well i’ll go there and meet you…..ok….i love you too.” Bette hung up the phone and quickly gathered her things.

George: “What’s going on!? Is Tina ok?” she said as she jumped up.

Bette: “She is having pains, your mom is taking her to the ER. We have to go.” she said quickly as she rushed around.

George looked around in panic and grabbed her keys following Bette out the door.

George and Bette burst through the emergency room doors. Bette ran up to the reception counter and George saw her mom sitting in the waiting room.

George: “What’s going on, is she ok?”

Kathy: “They took her as soon as we came in, I havn’t heard anything yet.”

George: “What happened?”

Kathy: “All I know is she was getting pains. It could have been contractions”

George: “It’s too early for that!”

Bette finished talking to the nurse and rused over to Kathy and George.

Bette: “The nurse is going to see what’s going on, then someone can go back.” she looked at Kathy. “Just let me know if they are ok”

Kathy: “Oh no it’s ok, George and I will stay out here, you can go back.”

Bette looked and Kathy with a thanking smile. The nurse came back and led Bette to Tina’s room. When Bette reached the room she saw Tina laying there with tear’s in her eyes. Bette thought the worst had happened and rushed over to her.

Bette: “T?”

Tina: “Hi baby” she said looking over and extending her arms.

Bette reached over and held her tight still not knowing what ws going on.

Bette: “Are you ok?”

Tina: “Yeah, yeah im ok”

Bette: “And the baby?” she reluctently asked

Tina: “Is still here”

Bette let out a deep sigh if relief and leaned over to kiss Tina. Bette held Tina for a few minutes with neither of them saying a word then the doctor walked in.

Doctor: “Hi Tina, are you feeling better?”

Tina: “Yeah”

Bette: “So what’s going on?”

Doctor: “Well I have good news and bad news. The good news is your fine and the baby will be fine the bad news is that you’ve been going through alot of stress and it’s putting stress on the baby. It’s a very good chance that the baby is going to come early. Your both very healty so it shouldn’t be a a problem. What you need to do though, is take it easy. I don’t want you working for the duration of your pregnancy. If your going to work out I would say to only do some light streaching. I would also have to say no ***** until after the baby’s born. It could enduce labor. Other than that, your free to go. Perhaps you should go strait to bed.”

Tina: “Wow, that’s alot to deal with but I think I can do that.” she smiled then sat up.

Doctor: “Good. Well, have a good night. Call me this week and we can schedule a check up ok.”

Tina: “Will do.”

Tina got dressed and they headed out to the waiting room.

Kathy and George jumped up when they saw them walk through the doors.

Kathy: “Is everything ok?” she asked giving Tina a hug.

Tina: “Yeah mom, everything is ok. The baby might come early but we’re both ok.”

They proceded out to the parking lot. George and Kathy climbed into their cars and drove off. Bette carefully loaded Tina into the passanger seat of the saab and closed the door. She walked around and jumped into the car. Tina was leaning back into her seat and was staring at Bette. Bette started the car and noticed Tina looking at her.

Bette: “What?” she said tunring towards Tina.

Tina: “I can’t believe we can’t be together until after the baby is born” she said running her fingers across Bette’s face.

Bette let out a sigh and kissed Tina. “It will be worth the wait” she promised. Tina grabbed onto Bette’s hand and closed her eyes as Bette drove.

Bette pulled into the driveway and helped Tina out of the car and up the front porch steps. They walked in and Bette turned on the light. Tina grabbed Bette’s hand. “Are you tired baby?” she asked. “Yeah” Bette replied with a yawn. “Let’s go to bed” she said leading Bette to the bedroom. Tina turned around and pulled Bette in for a long kiss.

Bette: “What are you doing?” she asked pulling away. “The doctor said we can’t do this”

Tina: “I know” she said unbuttoning Bette’s shirt “If I can’t have you I need to feel your skin against mine.”

They undressed and crawled into bed. They intertwined their legs and Bette held Tina tight as they fell asleep.
