Summary of the previous chapter: Bette and Tina pack up the office. Tina struggles with her emotions while Bette continues to be completely nonchalant.

It is a bit cramped in the Saab given the eight boxes which had been loaded into the car. As Bette pilots the car toward home she turns to Tina. You want anything while were out. A Slurpee, ice cream? Anything?
Im not hungry. Tina replis.
Even for TCBY White Chocolate Mousse?
What the ***** Tina thinks. You get a last cigarette before you face the firing squad. Since I dont smoke I deserve a last frozen yogurt.
Sure Babe. She responds to Bette.
Bette pulls into the TCBY drive-through and orders two chocolate waffle cones with the White Chocolate Mousse flavor. In a demonstration of talent, she manages to eat her ice cream while navigating the car and expertly gearing the manual transmission.
As Bette and Tina were taking the last boxes from the building, Shanes truck arrived outside of Bette and Tinas house. Like Alice and Dana before her, she walked around the house looking in all of the windows. Seeing a light in Jennys workshop/home they decided to see if she knew what was going on in her neighborhood.
Jenny answered the door in her ugly reading glasses and still wearing those nasty tights.
Does she ever change those ***** things? Shane wonders to herself.
Whats going on? Jenny asks as she opens the door. Did the Raven send you?
Uh, what Raven? Dana asks.
The Raven that watches us. Jenny replies.
Nevermore. Alice says. She just couldnt help herself.
Shane gives Alice a glare. Uh, Jenny did you or the Raven hear any commotion today?
The Raven always hears commotion. Thats the advantage of being able to fly, you can soar above the people and see all of the commotion in our frail human lives.
Look, *****. The stress has really brought out the assertive side of Dana. Did anything seem to be going on over at Bette and Tinas?
I didnt see anything.
Well, did the Raven see anything? Alice asks with a chuckle earning another glare from Shane.
She didnt mention anything unusual.
Uh, okay. Thanks, Jenny. Shane says as the threesome back away from the door. They leave to the sounds of Jenny performing an off-key version of Lynrd Skynrds Free Bird.
Woah, Ho, Psycho. Alice says as they head back to the front porch of the house. They park themselves on the front steps as they contemplate their next move.
Weve gotta call Kit. Alice announces, her tone of voice indicating that this time she would tolerate no dissention.

Hey, Girl. What you doing this fine night?
Uh, not much. Have you heard from Bette or Tina?
No. Why? Was I supposed to?
Uh, No. I just cant reach them is all. I thought maybe you might have heard from them.
Nah. I figure theyre you know, catching up under the sheets after all that work Bette up in for the big show.
Yeah, Alice gives a fake chuckle. I guess thats probably it, Kit. Thanks.

Nothing, huh? Shane asks.
Nothing.
What do we do now? Dana asks her voice betraying her fright.
I guess Im just gonna have to put some of my old skills to work. Shane says as she stands.

Im pretty sure I can pick the lock on the back door.
Yeah. Alice says. I know Kit knows how to break in. Im sure you can too.
Alice and Dana stand so that they can accompany Shane to the back door. Just as they reach the bottom of the stairs, they see the Saab approach and turn into the driveway. Shocked, they watch Bette and Tina emerge finishing their ice cream cones.
Hey guys, whats going on? Bette asks as she emerges from the car.
Shane and Dana begin to question Alices sanity until they see the look of fear in Tinas eyes. With that look, they know that Alice did not imagine something earlier in the day.
Uh, Bette we were just hanging out, thought wed see what you and Tina were up to. You didnt answer the phone. Shane answers for the group.
So, you just decided to come over. Bette finishes for them.

What is this? Alice and Dana ask as they approach the Saab.
Just some stuff I needed to take out of my office comes Bettes reply.
All five ladies take a box. Bette directs them to place the boxes in their bedroom office. She heads back to the Saab accompanied by Shane and Dana who leave Alice with Tina.
What the *****? Alice whispers to Tina.
I dont know is all Tina can get out before they ladies return with the remainder of the boxes.
Once the boxes are deposited, Bette asks her guests if they would like a drink. They all answer in the affirmative. Ill get us some beers. Bette announces.
What some help? Shane asks.
Ill get it. Make yourselves comfortable. She responds before calling out, T can you find something good one the stereo, you know something the Hippie would call old people music.
They hear Bette pulling bottles out of the icebox and pouring a bag of chips into a bowl. Looking at Tina, they wait for some indication of what the ***** is happening. She keeps glancing nervously toward the kitchen but says nothing.
Bette returns and starts passing out beers and places the bowl on chips on the coffee table. So, whats going on ladies?
Unable to stand the tension any longer and not knowing what else to say, Dana blurts forth. Alice kissed me.
