    You can’t change fate-Chapter 2

    “So what do you think of the elusive Bette Porter?” said Eric as he turned to Tina. Tina was still in a slight daze, there was something about that woman. She had such a well known reputation in the art community. Her beauty was almost blinding and her demenor was overpowering. “Tina?” Eric said trying to catch her attention. Tina jolted out of thought and finally responded “She seems very nice.” They continued the browse the gallery, Tina became incresingly uninterested in the art and found herself more interested in watching Bette. Bette felt Tina’s eyes on her as she mingled with the guests. Every few minutes she would give Tina a nod and a smile. This caused Tina to look away and blush every time. Alice couldn’t believe her eyes, the strait girl was falling for the Porter charm so easily. “She doesn’t stand a chance does she?” she said to Bette looking over at Tina who had slightly distanced herself from Eric. “You read into things too much Alice.” Bette replied going back to her conversation with anartist.

    The night finally began to wind down and people were begining to file out. Eric and Tina made their way over to Bette and Alice to say goodbye.

    Eric: “Bette, we had a great time, thank you again for the invite”

    Bette: “Your welcome, im glad you had a good time” she replied never taking her eyes off of Tina.

    Eric: “Im gonna go get the car honey, meet me out front” he said kissing Tina on the cheek.

    Tina: “Yeah ok, i’ll be out soon”

    Alice: “You’ll be ‘out’ sooner than you think” she said under her breath.

    Bette: “So did you enjoy your night as well?”

    These were the moments Alice lived for, she couldn’t wait to hear this conversation. “Let’s see how you pull this one off Porter” she though to herself. Just then her phone began to ring. Alice’s eyes widened and a look of anger fell over her face. She smiled and excused herself as she riped her phone out of her purse to answer it. “Oh, this had better be good” she demanded answeing the phone.

    Tina: “I had a lovely time. Is she ok?” she said looking over a a distraut Alice.

    Bette: “Yeah she’s fine, just a bit over-dramtic at times.”

    Tina: “Is she an artist?”

    Bette: “Oh god no, she can’t even draw a stick figure. She’s just Alice. She comes to all the events, to keep me company.”

    Tina: “I see. Well im sure Eric is probably waiting outside for me so I guess I better get going. Maybe i’ll see you around.”

    Bette: “Maybe you will” came her quick reply.

    Bette walked Tina over to the door and locked it behind her. She shook her head and took a deep breath. “You are in way over your head” she said to herself then turned back towards Alice who was still on the phone. As she got closer she could hear what Alice was saying. “Well im sure Mr. Piddles will come out of the closet on his own Dana, he doesn’t hate you, you just have to accept him for who he is…..im sorry…your right…. that wasn’t funny….I really have to go now though…just put some tuna or something outside of the door..ok…bye.” Alice hung up the phone and rolled her eyes. Bette was standing there with her arms crossed and confused look was lingering on her face. “Mr. Piddles?” she questioned. “Dana’s kitten, he ran off into the closet and wont come out, she thinks he hates her.” Bette shook her head and laughed and said “Let’s get out of here.” Alice didn’t move she just stared at Bette waiting for her to fill her in on the conversation she had with Tina.

    Bette: “What?” she said when she realized Alice was wasn’t following.

    Alice: “Well, what happened? When do you plan on sleeping with her?”

    Bette: “Get over it Alice, she’s strait remember” she said with a smirk

    Alice: “Whatever, let’s go get a drink. I need one aftet this party.”

    They both headed home to change and planned to meet up at the bar later.

    Tina and Eric arrived back at her apartment and went inside.

    Eric: “Im sorry if you didn’t have fun tonight.”

    Tina: “What makes you think I didn’t have fun?” she said as she took off her earings.

    Eric: “You seems quiet, that’s all.” he said throwing himself onto the bed.

    Tina: “No, I had a great time. Thanks for taking me. Can you help me with this zipper?” she said turning around strugling to reach it herself.

    Eric: “I think I could manage that” he said getting up to undress her. “You looked very ***** tonight” he said starting to caress her back.

    Tina: “Come on Eric, Im supposed to go out with Kaitlin tonight, I promised her.”

    Eric: “Seriously Tina, we havn’t had ***** in like a week. Your killing me”

    Tina: “She broke up with her girlfriend and wants some company, I told you about it this morning.” she said slipping on her jeans.

    Eric: “Maybe you should introduce her to Bette, then maybe you wouldn’t have to go out with her all the time.”

    Tina: “Why would I introduce her to Bette?”

    Eric: “I didn’t tell you? I know I had to of told you she’s a *****.”

    For some reason Tina was happy with this news. She was quite surprised as well, all of the lesbinas she knew were somewhat on the butch side.

    Tina: “I had no idea” she said as she pulled her hair back.

    Eric: “You didn’t notice her looking at you all night? Who can blame her though, you looked amazing.”

    Tina turned away to hide her smirk and to finish getting ready.

    Eric: “Im surprised you didn’t already know that, she’s got quite the reputation with the ladies.”

    Tina: “Well she is beautiful”

    Eric: “Tina, is their something you want to tell me?” she said jokingly

    Tina: “You got me, im not going out with Kaitlin, im running away with Bette Porter” she said poking him in the stomach. “I gotta go babe, you staying here tonight?”

    Eric: “Nah, Ive got an early meeting tomorrow.”

    They walked outside and went their seperate ways. Tina got in her car and headed to the bar to meet up with her friend.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Alice showed up at the bar with no sign of Bette. She headed over to the bar and sat down. Momnets later she heard a familliar voice beside her. “Two Miller Lights please” Alice knew she recognized that voice and spun around.
    Alice: “Tina right?”
    Tina: “Yeah…and your…Alice. Bette’s friend right?”
    Alice: “The one and only”
    Tina: “Yeah well it’s nice to meet you. Bette sure does have a beautiful gallery.”
    Alice: “Yeah, I helped her find that space”
    Tina: “Oh well nice choice. So are you here with anyone?” she said looking around hoping it was Bette she came with.
    Alice: “Well Porter was supposed to meet me here ten minutes ago but she always had to fashionably late.”
    Tina’s heart skipped a beat when she heard that Bette would be there tonight.
    Alice: “I hope you don’t mind me asking but what are you doing in a ***** bar?”
    Tina: “Oh my friend Kaitlin” she said pointing to the other side of the bar “she just broke up with her girlfriend and wanted to go out”
    Alice: “I see. Well i’ll tell Bette you guys are here when she gets here. Im sure she will be excited to see you again.”
    Tina: “Ok, we’ll be over there”
    Bette finally made her way to the bar a half hour late. She threw her keys in her purse and rushed inside quickly finding Alice.
    Bette: “Sorry im late, I had to run back to the gallery and-” she stopped when she noticed Alice wasn’t angry, she was smirking. “What? Why are you making that face?”
    Alice: “Who is the last person you expected to see here?”
    Bette: “Oh Alice I don’t want to play any games right now” she replied motioning at the bartender. “Can I have a gin and tonic?”
    Alice: “One miss Tina Kennard.”
    Bette’s eyes grew wide as she turned around. She turned back to the bartender “can you make that a double please?” she pleaded.
    Alice: “I told her we would hang out with them”
    Bette: “Who is she here with?”
    Alice: “Appearently she has a ***** friend, who’s name is Kaitlin. Not bad, id have to say. Hurry up and drink that, we should go talk to them”
    Bette: “Alright” she said taking a large gulp
    Alice: “You not nervous are you? Come on Bette get in the zone, into the zone. Your Bette Porter, the hottest ***** in all of L.A. noone can resist you.”
    Bette: “Are you done now?”
    Tina noticed Bette as soon as she walked in the door. Once again she couldn’t take her eyes off of her, she was so intregued with her and she didn’t know why.
    Kaitlin: “Who are you looking at?” she said turning around.
    Tina: “That’s the woman I met tonight” she said inconspicuously pointing at Bette.
    Kaitlin: “You mean Bette Porter?”
    Tina: “Yeah how do you know her?”
    Kaitlin: “WelI I don’t know her, I know of her. I hear shes a monster in bed” she laughed
    Tina: “I need another drink”
    Kaitlin: “Yea, lets get drunk tonight” she laughed as she ordered them both two more beers.
    After a while Bette and Alice finally made their way over to Tina and Kiatlin. All of which seemed to be on the edge of drunk. Bette pulled up a stool beside Tina and set down her drink. Bette used her natural charm to strike up a conversation. Alice swooped in and started to talk to Kaitlin. Before long they were on the dance floor leaving Bette and Tina alone.
    Bette: “So do you really like art or did you just come because of Eric.”
    Tina: “Well for some reason when I drink it makes me tell the truth, so I cannot lie. I do like art but not as much as he does. I felt like sitting at home and watching a movie but he made me go. But, I have to say I am really glad I went. Your gallery is wonderful and I would love to see it again.”
    Bette: “Well thank you for your honesty and I would love to give you a private tour sometime.”
    Tina: “Ohh a private tour, maybe I will take up that offer.” Tina was begining to feel in unexplainable attraction for the gallery owner, she couldn’t help but smile.
