Summary of the previous chapter: The gang go to Milk. Alex blackmails Helena. Bette and Alex pass out after drunkenly serenading Tina.

At some point during the night, Bette and Alex managed to pull themselves together enough to make it to the bathroom and then into bed. They slept with Bette in the middle wrapped around Tina and Alex on the other side of the bed. Awakening to realize how they had arranged themselves, Tina couldnt help, but laugh. It was even funnier when she awoke in the morning to find Alexs arm draped across Bettes stomach as she lay on her side with her arm draped around Tina.

Managing to untangle herself from Bette, Tina went to make coffee. She eventually heard Bette and Alex begin to stir. Returning to the bedroom, she saw them look at each other, shrug and go back to sleep still entangled together. Under any other circumstances, Tina would have been livid with jealousy, but she knew that Bette and Alex had shared a bed together, though not nightly, for longer than she had shared a bed with Bette. It was no surprise to either of them to wake up in bed together. Though her trust in Bette had been shattered when she found out about the affair, Tina never lost complete trust in Bette and Alex together. It amazed her that Alex could be so intimate with Bette without ever crossing the line into something sexual or otherwise a threat to Bettes relationship with Tina. It made sense, though, as Alex knew Bette in a way that was far more intimate than lovers.

When Bette and Alex finally managed to get themselves out of bed, Tina ordered breakfast while they cleaned up. Bette a clean shirt from Alex. After running through the shower, Alex finished getting her stuff packed. After finishing breakfast, she would have to check out and leave for the airport.

Tina, Bette and Alex enjoyed a nice breakfast as they laughed and joked around. It had been a difficult week for the three of them as so much pain had been shared, but for the time being they just wanted to relax in the frivolity of friendship.

They hugged goodbye at the door of the hotel room. Alex promised to come back to LA no later than the birth of the baby. Tina took her disheveled wife home and Alex checked out of her hotel and headed for LAX.

Arriving home, Bette and Tina were grateful for a shower. Still suffering from the previous night, they fell into bed planning a nice long nap.

It was around 6:00 that evening that Bette and Tina finally got out of bed having lain in each others arms talking for a couple of hours after waking from their nap. Tina went into the kitchen to prepare a snack for them. Bette sat at the kitchen table and flipped on the TV so that they could catch the weather report on the news.

Updating our top story, United Airlines Flight 418 bound for Washington, D.C. crashed shortly after takeoff this afternoon. At this time there are no reports of any survivors.

Bette and Tina looked at each other saying only one word. Alex.

At that point the phone began to ring.
