GUNG HO MISSION – CHAPTER ONE

Kit was walking in the hallway heading for the piloting simulator installation. The pressure of the selection was starting to get to her and she was happy that it was the last day of the training session. She also knew that the hardest part was still to come. The meeting with the selecting team later today. She finally arrive at the simulator installation. She let out a loud sigh before entering the room.

Kit took a seat in the control room of the simulator and watched the monitor.

How is she doing? Kit asked Paul, one of the technicians.

Shes doing great, Paul said I never see somebody go that far on the simulator Kit.

How far is she, Kit asked, The 12th or 15th mission?

Paul looked at Kit in disbelief, then he said, When I tell you that I never see someone go that far, I mean shes in the last mission Kit.

Shes in the last mission?! Kit said in total surprise.

The last person to go that far was John Patrick Michael and it was 15 years ago, Paul added.

Shes doing way better than I expected from her, Kit added with a huge smile on her face.

Shane was wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. She was on the last mission available on the simulator. Only 2 persons before her had succeeded in all the missions on the simulator before her. Melvin Porter, the creator of the simulator and John Patrick Michael.

Come on McCutcheon, Shane said to herself, You can do it, you been there before. All you have to do now is not crash at the hardest landing youve ever seen.

But today she was nervous. She could feel it in the pit of her stomach and she wasnt used to that nervousness. It had never happened to her before. She also knew that if she were able to do it again, she would be selected for the mission. She was sure to be the only one to succeed in the last mission on the simulator. All the other pilots she knew had always stopped right before the last mission. There was no way she would mess up this chance. It was her only chance to prove that she was the best pilot of the last 15 years. But she still had to convince Kit Porter and her team that she was the best pilot for the mission.
