Something so right – Chapter 96
Something so right
Chapter 96

Tina parked the hire car in front of her grandparents house. She looked across at Bette who looked pale
“You okay ?”
“Nervous “ Bette admitted
“Why ?”
“Because I am not the 6ft plus college football star that your grandparents probably wanted to see you settle down with “
Tina smiled “I dated the 6ft plus college football star and he was an arrogant and boorish jackass who was terrible in bed and couldn’t have found certain highly sensitive parts of me if he’d looked for a decade. “
Bette laughed “ That’s me told “
“Bette – don’t worry – they are going to like you. It might be a bit weird at first – they are perfectly sweet people – they are not as narrow minded as you seem to be assuming “
“Sorry – I am making that assumption aren’t I ?”
“Yes and while I understand it you will see very soon that its without justification. Come on – things are going to be fine “
Bette climbed out of the car and looked at the house. It was at the end of a street of white brick and board effect houses. The lawn was immaculate and a old fashioned white picket fence surrounded the property. Tina got out of the car and looked at Bette
“We are here to find some clues out about my dad “
“I know “ Bette replied walking round to join Tina – she sighed
“It must mean that you are serious about me when you decide that I am good enough to be introduced to your grandparents “
Tina laughed and squeezed Bette’s hand
“Its only fair that they meet the woman who has given their oldest and favourite grand-daughter so much happiness and love – come on “
Tina lead Bette up the path and round the back of the property. The woman that Bette took to be Tina’s grandmother was sitting on a chair with a pot of coffee and a cup on a pine table in front of her. She was reading a book.
“Hey grandma “
The older woman looked up and beamed
“Tina – darling “
She got up – Bette saw the family resemblance immediately – she had curly blonde hair, even though Tina had told her she was 68 she looked 10-15 years younger and she had the Kennard smile. Tina and her grandmother embraced – the older woman was a few inches shorter than Tina.
