    The Professor (18)

Once they were back at Bette’s house, and both inside, Bette took Tina’s face in her hands and her heart was breaking. Tina had been crying on the way back. “Don’t you dare feel badly for reacting to all this chaos. You didn’t do anything wrong. You’re just upset by what happened. Look at me, okay?”

If only she knew how well this applied to her, too … Tina thought, slowly locking eyes with her, feeling even worse than she knew she looked.

    “I love you.”

“I just couldn’t help but be upset,” Tina started, wiping both hands over her face. She was getting a little louder again. “I mean … all that’s happening! … I did it. I did everything, and I’m ruining your life!”

    “No-”

“I’m fucking everything up, and I was so selfish to ever want you … I just wanna cry every time I think about what I’m putting you through.”

“Tina – I love you. You didn’t do that.” She tried to reach out, but Tina seemed inconsolable. She didn’t know what to do. She felt strangely capable, but she had no idea what to do with her energy.

“I came onto you!  If you lose your job, it’s my fault! Don’t you get it?!”

Bette knew Tina was yelling more at herself than anything, but she was still affected by it. She was stepping forward before she knew it.

“I’m just as bad as she is …” Tina sobbed, thinking of how Helena had hurt Bette time and time again. She knew that was how Phyllis had heard about them – she figured it out on her own. And it hurt to be so hated all the time by someone who knew nothing about her.

She felt so exhausted that she didn’t see Bette approaching until she felt two hands close over her arms from behind. It felt supportive, and yet at the same time, it gave Tina shivers.

“I’m here for you, but I don’t want to hear you saying bad things about yourself. Talk to me. I know it’s hard.”

Tina turned in her arms, looking at her for minutes of silence, conveying her mood with only her eyes. When she finally spoke, Bette just wanted to hold her.

    1. Thanks GR for another amazing update!! 😃👍 I simply love the way you wrote about their connection, so palpable! And what a great news it is! Since I heard that the story is near the end, I am more curious on find out how are you going to knot all the loose ends 😉 looking forward to your next installment (even though I know that means the end is nearer 😱)

    2. Thank you for your stories, you are an amazing writer. I love how you are able to make me emotionally connected to your characters. The depth and layers you give to Bette, Tina, and even Helena allows me to loathe Helena as much as Tina, to love Bette as much as Tina, and to love Tina as much as Bette does. I appreciate the story coming to an end but I hope you consider keeping this story around for an occasional one off or a several chapter short story. This journey of B & T is just beginning and hope you let your fans in on the fun.
