When You Least Expect It – Chapter 10
It was silent at Alice and Dana’s table at The Planet, had been for the last 10 minutes ever since the blonde’s 60 word a minute rant. Alice had returned to their table at with a million and one possibilities as to what her conversation with Bette meant. None of them good of course.
After running out of options, Alice sought comfort in her son sitting in a high chair between herself and Dana. The brunette had been staring at her ever since, watching as Alice played with their baby boy’s tiny feet while her face twisted in turmoil.
"Baby, you need to calm down"
Alice looked to her wife somewhat offended, her eyes widened with the surprise she felt.
"No. I’m not gonna calm down. I can’t believe you’re even asking me to"
"You don’t think that you’re overreacting even just a little?" Dana raised an eyebrow as she offered cautiously, not wanting to further upset her
wife.
"Bette told me that she’s on her way over with Tina and Angie. After the way they’ve been with each other lately not to mention last night, no, I don’t think I’m overreacting. I think I’m reacting just fine"
As calm as Dana usually was, even she found herself losing patience with her stubborn wife. "Sweetie, maybe you’re just jumping to conclusions. I mean for all we know Bette and Tina could have made up after the party. Maybe they want to tell us that they’re friends again"
Alice couldn’t help but roll her eyes, sadness and worry completely taking over her features. "Please, you saw them arguing"
"True but I also didn’t stand there to watch. Anything could have happened"
"Yeah but then not long after that, Kit comes to us and says that Bette left with Tina. They obviously went home to keep arguing"
"You don’t know that for sure"
"You’d have to be blind not to see that, Dane. I thought Tina was over her crush on Bette but it’s obvious that she’s not. I may have been drunk but I know Tina was mad at Bette for hanging with Melissa"
Dana opened her mouth to argue but realized that Alice had a valid point. As oblivious as Dana usually is to situations, she could tell that Tina had been in fact jealous of Bette and Melissa.
