When You Least Expect It – Chapter 10

"So how ya feeling, Tina?" Shane asked as she sipped from her coffee, watching as the blonde put Angie into a high chair.

"Um . . pretty good" The blonde laughed and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a soft blush coloring her cheeks when she thought about the morning’s events. As much as she loved her friends, Tina wished that she could have spent the day alone with Bette and Angie.

Alice had noticed the change of color in Tina’s cheeks but before she could even think to ask any questions, Bette walked into The Planet and grabbed her full attention. Whatever suspicion she had as to Tina’s blush completely flew out the window and dread settled heavily in her stomach.

The table greeted the brunette just as she made it to the table, watching carefully as she interacted with Tina. Even though Dana, Shane and Carmen thought Alice was overreacting, they still found themselves searching for any clues as to the status of Bette and Tina’s relationship.

Oblivious to her friend’s stares, Bette looked at Tina as she held up Angelica’s pacifier hanging from her finger. "You left this in the car"

She took a seat beside the blonde right after, another "clue" for the gang. It wasn’t a very good one considering there were no more empty chairs at the table. Bette sitting next to Tina could have meant anything and thus meant they were back at square one.

Finally noticing that everyone was staring at them, Bette looked to her friends and raised an eyebrow curiously. Her friends were usually weird but something was definitely off.

    "What’s up?"

It was then that they realized what they had been doing and suddenly all of them felt self-conscious. They immediately shook their heads dismissively and laughed off their embarrassment, trying to strike up any kind of conversation that would steer things in a different path.

They proceeded to talk about the party, everyone aside from Alice anyway. While the women engaged in conversation, Alice sat back in her seat and glared at Bette and Tina across from her.
