    Alice had waved to get Shane and Carmen’s attention as they moved slowly with one another.

    “What the hell is she waving at us for?” Shane asked into Carmen’s ear so she could hear above the music. No sooner had the words left her mouth that the two women followed with their eyes to where Alice began pointing and motioning towards the other side of the dance floor.

    “Well I’ll be goddamned. Little Porter pulled herself a little blonde vixen.” Carmen said with a smile.

    “Wouldn’t be the first time,” Shane said matter-of-factly. “Certainly won’t be the last, I’m sure.”

    “You’re so jaded, babe. Who knows, this one could be forever.” Carmen was ever the eternal optimist when it came to love.

    They all watched as Bette pulled Tina closer, swaying gently to the soft vocals of everyone’s favorite Material Girl.

    “Porter’s always been kind of a lone wolf, you know? Work has always been the constant woman in her life. Chicks are temporary distractions.” Shane’s assessment of Bette got Carmen thinking.

    “Is that how you see me?” Even though she was scared of the answer, Carmen knew that her infantile relationship with Shane had to be discussed sooner or later.

    The conversation started to make Shane a little uneasy. “What? No, not at all.” She answered without looking Carmen in the eye.

    Carmen stopped dancing. Shane almost stumbled over her girlfriend’s planted feet.

    “Why’d you stop?” she asked when she righted herself.

    “I don’t believe you.”

    “You don’t believe me? Well, can we talk about this later?” Shane said hoping to continue dancing and forget about where this conversation could lead them.

    They were standing motionless on the dance floor staring at each other when Lacey Haraway approached them.

    “Hi, Shane.” She said a little too excitedly.

    “No, we cannot talk about this later because we are talking about this right now.” Carmen retorted as Shane looked in the opposite direction from where Lacey was standing and sighed deeply.

    Lacey tapped Carmen on the shoulder. “Do you mind if I cut in?” the clueless blonde asked.

    “Beat it, bitch,” Carmen pulled her arm away without breaking her stare from Shane.

    1. This is one of a few more chapters I’m posting later today, but I have some stuff I have to do before I can post the rest.

      When I originally wrote this, there was a big tabloid story about Lindsey Lohan possibly snorting coke in the bathroom of some LA club. I’m pretty sure there were also pictures. So if the reference seems dated…it is.

      As for our favorite couple, it’s unfortunate that their first semi-smooch left them both bleeding.

      A girls fight and poor Alice, beaten up and asking if she did a hit too, she is funny!

      Looking forward to the next chapters, but i can only read them after work tomorrow, so don’t expect comments right away. The time difference sucks.

      Great chapter, everything still is focussed on the inside of the tiny T + B -bubble that is starting to build.
