Moonlit, Episode 2: Daylight

It was impossible to say how long they enjoyed their reunion together like that, but, when, at last, the kiss broke and Dominique rested her forehead against Elisa’s, Elisa had the notion that, at that moment, she was probably going to say yes to whatever it was Dominique wanted. Concerns about moving too fast just didn’t seem to matter. ”Wow…” She said softly, biting her bottom lip just a little.
”I… hadn’t realized just how much I’ve been wanting to do that again.” Dominique spoke. She hadn’t planned on kissing Elisa right off, it had just been like she hadn’t been able to help it, hadn’t even thought… She’d just done it.
”Me either…” Elisa replied softly as Dominique ran her fingers through her hair a little. Elisa shivered just a little at how similar that felt to when Margot used to do that…
”Is everything all right?” Dominique asked gently, having sensed something might be a little amiss.
Elisa smiled a little. ”I’m supposed to be the one asking you that.”
”Oh? Really?” Dominique asked with a little of a smile.
”That pretty assistant of yours apparently wants me to see if I can cheer you up a little… How’m I doing so far, by the way?” She asked a little playfully.
Dominique took in a breath and sighed. ”Splendidly.” She replied softly, moving out of Elisa’s embrace, biting her own lip a little in an uncharacteristic and unintended mime of Elisa’s gesture a moment ago. She went over to her desk and retrieved what she’d gone out and bought a half hour ago after she’d felt she’d brooded in her office long enough. She took it up in her hand and turned around to meet Elisa’s curious gaze. Elisa had followed her part of the way over to her desk and so it only took her a step or two to come back over to her and present her with the single red rose she’d bought at the flower stand on the corner on a whim.
Elisa’s breath caught a little as she accepted the rose. She felt her skin heat a little too. ”It’s beautiful. Thank you.” She said, looking from the rose back up into Dominique’s eyes.
”You’re… welcome.” Dominique replied, a little unsure of herself all of the sudden for some reason. She knew what she wanted to do, what her instincts were telling her to do. To take, to claim, to just give in to the constant and intense pull she felt towards the woman in front of her, to show Elisa her feelings without words and know that those feelings would be freely returned. What she was actually going to do, that was what she was having trouble figuring out right then. To say she was ignorant of human courting rituals was probably something of an understatement. The red rose seemed to have worked out well, but that was about the limit of her knowledge. Still, Elisa seemed to be reacting not unlike a fellow gargoyle would in this situation – Eye contact, physical proximity, increasingly intimate touches that clearly went beyond the level of friendship, showing interest in her history, her personal life and tastes. So, basically, she assumed she was doing well. She’d simply have to pay attention to the cues Elisa would surely give her and respond accordingly. And, somehow, she felt quite confident that that should be no problem for her… allowing that she took her desired mate somewhere public where the temptation to initiate mating immediately would be lessened. From the look in Elisa’s eyes now though, she was suddenly worried about her ability to accomplish that.
