    Moonlit, Episode 2: Daylight

    Moonlit by Jessica Knight

Elisa was caught a little speechless a moment, but then she started to smile a little in delight. ”Oh…” She said, moving in and kissing her again, just briefly and gently, more to be close to her again. ”That’s all right then.” She told her softly. ”It’s a little fast, and it’s… it’s probably really dumb for me to be jumping into a relationship like this. But… I’m pretty sure I’m falling in love with you too.” It sacred her in some ways, but it was such a good feeling, her fear seemed to pale by comparison. When it came right down to it, she just wasn’t someone who could let herself turn away at a chance at having love in her life.

Dominique felt relief sweep through her and she hugged Elisa close to her, not trusting herself to speak. She felt like she’d found a rare and precious treasure. That it went so against so many of her long-held beliefs was worrying and not just a little confusing. She felt like she was betraying her clan, her people, even perhaps Goliath and her poor beautiful dead son, but… like she’d told Elisa, she just couldn’t seem to help how she was feeling. She could try to justify it any number of ways, she knew. She’d told herself before that it was just some sort of experiment, to see if humanity could redeem itself in her eyes, and maybe that was part of it. Maybe it was part of it too that living as a human as she had been might be having more of an effect on her than she’d want to admit. But the end result was that she was now set on this course, and however it turned out, she knew herself well enough to know that she would see it through to the end… whether that ending was to be a happily ever after, or one more in a series of bitter tragedies and hard learned lessons.

The hug broke after a little while and, by seeming mutual consent, they started to kiss again. Though it wasn’t so urgent this time as before and Dominique felt better able to control herself (of course, it was still something of a challenge).
