After Love – (Chapter: Chapter 4 – Miles and Miles Apart)

    Ashley’s POV

Two weeks had passed since I attended the Lakers game with Glen.  It was a good time, but I’m so completely not a fan of basketball.  The excitement really is addicting though.  I enjoy watching other people scream like idiots, but I don’t think I have it inside of me.  Maybe mud wrestling or jello wrestling, but not basketball.  Maybe jello Basketball—with only the cheerleaders playing.  Yes, that would make me very excited.

“Lost in your deep deep thoughts again?” His voice broke me from my happy place.  The place with all the hot cheerleaders covered in jello.

“Hello, Matt.  I didn’t know you were there.”  Matt worked in the Kettle Corner Coffee House.  Matt saw me three times a week when I stopped in to get coffee on my way to my recording studio, one of the responsibilities that my father left me when he died.  One of the many responsibilities that I passed on to someone else.  I just go by three times a week because I’m bored and I enjoy watching and listening.  Sometimes I get to fool around with some of the bands for kicks.  Matt, however, only knew that I came by for coffee three times a week, and he desperately wanted to go on a date with me.

“I’m always here, beautiful.  You know that,” he responded while sitting my coffee down in front of me.

“Thanks.  I don’t get to order anymore?  You just assume that I want the same thing?”

“Were you going to order something different?” he challenged.

“No, but I would at least like the option,” I responded with a smile.  He took my warm demeanor as an invitation to sit at my table.

“Well, I would never dream of taking that option away from you.  So, how would you like to go out with me tonight?  I’m a great dancer, and I know this hopping little club that you would love.”

I sighed at his futile attempts.  I also smiled because underneath the charming and slightly pathetic waiter, there was a charming and less pathetic nice guy that was wasting all of his efforts on a lesbian.

“Matt, why don’t you find yourself a nice girl that likes men?  Stop wasting your time on me.  It really won’t get you anywhere.”

    1. Why do I have the feeling that Madison’s new partner is going to be Aiden? I love this story. I love how all their stories are intersecting inadvertently. Spashley is just meant to be…or at least I hope so.
