Books and Letters – (Chapter: Justice is served!)

The next morning I walked through the double doors of the court room, ready to hand out justice. I felt really positive about what the outcome of this case was going to be. I was going to put Delatorre in prison and maybe the streets would be safe again. Now, only if we could just get the rest of those filthy scoundrels that are involved in the mob put away with him, then everyone could really sleep safe at night. I took my seat at my desk with the rest of my colleagues, in front of the judge’s stand and opened my brief case. I had time to re-organize my evidence before the case this morning since a little someone named Ashley Davies wouldn’t let me last night.

The sheriffs brought Delatorre into the court room and he took a seat next to his lawyer but not before looking towards me and giving me a sly smile. Bastard you’re going down. The judge then came into the court room and took a seat at his stand.

    Sheriff: All rise.

    Everyone rose from their seats.

Judge Harris: In the case of Zack Delatorre versus the state how do you plead?

The judge asked as if he didn’t know the answer. Of course this rat was going to plead not guilty. He lacks in balls to stand up and tell the truth.

    Zack Delatorre: Not guilty.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Was I right or was I right. I scoffed audibly but no one paid attention. If this guys not guilty then I’m not gay and trust me that means he is so guilty it’s ridiculous. After that, the trial started. The first witness up was one of the victim’s daughters. She was pretty young. Younger than me but older than 18. She explained how her mother use to be involved with Delatorre and that when she broke it off with him after some time he became hostile and possessive, going as far as creating a scene at her workplace resulting in her termination.

I presented the evidence I had and interviewed the witnesses we had. The day was dragging on but finally we got a recess. I had nailed this case. I played it up t the jury to the hilt. That way if they found him not guilty they would feel sorry for the poor women’s lives I knew he took.
