Books and Letters – (Chapter: Justice is served!)

    Sheriff: All rise.

Judge Harris: We are going to go into a short recess and will recommence at 12:15.

He banged the gavel. Thank god! This case was becoming tiring and my stomach was growling. I grabbed my brief case and Preceded out of the court room. As soon as I reached the steps outside the courthouse, I retrieved my phone from my pocket, dialing Ashleys number.

    Ring! Ring! Ring!

    Ashley: Hello?

Spencer: Hey babe, I was just calling to see if you wanted to go get lunch?

I asked hoping shed say yes and that she wasn’t on some stakeout. I began heading to my car. I looked at the time and it read 11:35. That was enough time for me to take Ashley out to lunch.

Ashley: Sure babe, of course. Do you want me to come get you or are you gonna come pick me up?

    She asked into the phone.

Spencer: How about I come get you baby.

I said smiling and slipping into the driver’s seat of my car.

Ashley: Ok then, it’s a date.

    I smiled.

Spencer: Alright then, Ill be there in a bit.

    Ashley: Alright, love you.

I smiled big like an idiot. Although she has said it plenty of times before, whenever I hear Ashley tell me that she loves me, it makes my heart jump and skip a beat.

    Spencer: I love you too.

I said to her and she sighed on the phone.

    Ashley: Bye babe.

    Spencer: bye.

I hung up my cell phone and put it in my purse. I then started the engine of my car and pulled out of the parking lot of the court. I sped down Whilsher Boulevard on my way to the precinct. When I got there I dialed Ashley and let her know I was outside. I never really did like going into that place. It creeped me out and I had this deadening fear of attracting hepatitis from that place. She came out of the precinct smiling and hopped into the car. She reached over the console and kissed me passionately.

    Ashley: I missed you.

    I smiled brightly.

Spencer: I missed you too baby.

I said honestly because I really did. Every time she went away, had to work or wasn’t with in two meters of me, I missed her. I swear it was unconstitutional to keep her away from me. I started my car and we drove to this quiet little tavern over by her work. It really was my favorite place to go for lunch because it was quiet and not too crowded. Ashley and I didn’t really talk on the ride there; we just enjoyed each others company. When we got there, we got a seat in the back and ordered our food. As we waited to be served, Ashley struck up a conversation.
