Changing For the Better – (Chapter: Neighbors)

The funny thing is they actually offered me a spot on the squad. I may be desperate, but I’m not that desperate.

When I stepped off the bus, yeah I ride the bus, I quickly skipped up the steps to my aunts house. My bag made it difficult for me to get the key to go in.

“Shit,” I cursed dropping the key.

“Having problems?” It was more of a statement than a question.

“Na, just technical difficulties,” I sighed turning around. But when I turned around I was face to face with Ashley. She was so close that I could smell her strawberry shampoo.

“So you live here?” Once again it was more of a statement than a question.

“Yeah, I moved in with my aunt,” I replied silently wishing I could just be a little closer desperate for some kind of skin contact.

“I live right across the street,” she stated pointing to a house. When I shifted my gaze from her to the house it caught me by surprise.

“I’m rich if the mansion wasn’t a dead give away,” she replied after seeing me stare.

“Damn,” was all I could manage to say. Inside I was jumping with joy that she lives next to me.

“So I never took you for a cheerleader,” she stated trying her hardest to suppress her laughter.

“NO, I am not a cheerleader,” I immediately felt repulsed at the thought. “I just didn’t have anyone else to sit with.”

“My tables always open,” she stated almost seductively. Or maybe it was only my imagination. Hell I didn’t even know if the girl is gay.

“So how come you moved here?”

“I needed a change,” I stated trying to sound indifferent. I failed miserably, and it was written all over her face. I could see her thinking it over to ask me more.

“So what are you up to Friday?”

“Absolutely nothing,” god I hope that didn’t just sound too desperate. When am I ever going to learn how to play it cool?

“I got tickets to a Three Days Grace concert, and my friend bailed on me to hang out with his girlfriend,” she made a gagging motion with her finger. “Wanna go?” Fuck yes. Wait cool Spencer, cool.
