Changing For the Better – (Chapter: Stressful Phone Calls)

“I don’t know Spence but I promise you I will find a day to make it up and say hello,” he answered his voice full of sympathy, but the truth was he didn’t know how much it still hurt.

    “I’d like that a lot,” I replied.

“So tell me about your new school?” Clay asked trying to change the topic.

“I have two really good friends and I really like one of them,” I answered blushing furiously.

“Ooo, now I see why you wanted to move,” he joked. “Ohio girls not good enough?”

“You have such a one track mind,” I laughed. “How’s college?”

“It’s good,” he replied. “This year is harder seeing that less of it is generals, but the weekends are definitely up there on my must remember list.”

    “Partying are we,” I inquired.

“You could say that I guess,” Clay answered.

“Well, I’m glad you’re doing good,” I stated.

“You’re doing better right?” he asked catching me a little off guard again.

“Yeah, things up here are a lot better than back in Ohio,” I promised him.

“Good, I’m glad,” he replied. “My roommate wants me to go out to eat with him, so I’ll talk to you later,” Clay said.

“Yeah, it was really nice talking to you,” I replied truthfully.

“You really should call Glen, though,” he insisted. “I’ll stop down one of these days, okay?”

    “Yeah, sounds good,” I answered.

“Okay, love you,” he said goodbye.

“Love you too,” I replied. I could hear the click and then the dial tone. Should I call Glen? If he really wanted to talk to me wouldn’t he just call me? Then again I really want to talk to him, but I haven’t called him. Maybe I’ll just procrastinate. Why do today what you can do tomorrow I told myself. Wow, I should never give advice I mentally advised myself.

Monday came and went. Kyla, Ashley and I went to the skate park after school. For some reason Kyla became Ashley’s ghost following her everywhere lately. I didn’t mind except it definitely limited my one on one time with her. I hadn’t known her for long, but I could already see the change these few weeks have made. I guess we were just sucking her to the dark side. Ashley tried to show us some moves. It was definitely a very unsuccessful attempt, but watching Kyla’s butt plants, face plants, and random wipe outs were well worth the soreness I was going to be feeling in the morning. The guys at the skate park were in awe of Ashley’s talents. I was just in awe of her butt. They’d laugh at Cara and I. I decided not to call Ryan tonight either.
