An hour later, we found ourselves still sitting on the couch, having just finished lunch. I was completely full and didn’t think I’d be able to get up if I tried. Ashley did, in fact, try, but fell back almost immediately.
“How do you know if your stomach’s about to burst?” she asked.
“I don’t know… how?”
“I don’t know. I was asking you,” she replied.
“Ohhh… I thought you were telling a joke!” I admitted. She laughed and leaned back, groaning.
“Okay… let me finish it then. You know your stomach’s about to burst when you try to get up but fall right back on your ass.”
“Good one,” I teased. “Really. I’m laughing on the inside, Ash.”
“It’s not joke material. I mean, if the building was burning, what would we do? We can’t move, so getting up and running might pose a bit of a problem.”
“True.”
“But, you know, if I had to be burnt to a crisp, I’m glad you’d be with me,” she said.
“Thanks!” I joked, trying to act like that sentence didn’t have more than one meaning.
“Any time.” She smiled, and my stomach began to do flips, which wasn’t exactly a great feeling, considering how much I’d just eaten. “Ugh… this reminds me of that time I baked you that cake for your birthday, and we decided it would be a good idea to cut it in half and see who could finish their half first.”
“Yup! I totally won that!”
“Only because I almost choked halfway through!” she pointed out, as we both laughed, remembering how funny it had been.
“And then afterwards, we were both, like, covered in cake.”
“Mmm… then there was the shower…” she replied, grinning widely.
“Yup,” I blushed. That had been my first time having sex in a shower before.
“Except the pieces of cake clogged the drain, and we had to get a plumber to come fix it.” I laughed as I replayed the situation through my head.
“That was a fun birthday, though.”
“I’m glad,” she replied.
“All of my birthdays with you were fun,” I admitted. She smiled in response.
“I wish we could have had more of them,” she said.
“Me too.”
“Remember my 18th?”

ok, so I totally read this at work. And then it got busy. So I’m guessing that all around this city, people were reading your fic and then fell off their chairs, had heart attacks and just plain fainted at the loveliness of it. You’re building this up at a perfect pace and I’m loving every single second of it. You know you’re the ace mate, keep it up. (Oh, and be careful, people may want to hybridise you…)
