“Go for it.” She shook her head and laughed as she dug in again.
“What’s up?” she asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I know I haven’t known you for that long, but I’ve never seen you refuse pad thai. Ever. So… what’s up?”
“I don’t know. Things are still just confusing with Ashley, I guess,” I admitted.
“What happened?”
“Nothing really happened, per se. It’s just that we act so much like a couple… in so many ways. And it sucks that we can’t really be, like, officially together, or whatever. Well, not that we can’t. We won’t. More like Ashley won’t. And I just don’t understand it. I mean, I know why she doesn’t want to. But I still don’t understand.”
“Well, you know how I feel about this issue.” Carrie basically sympathized with Ashley. According to her, relationships were hard enough without the distance. Adding on 3,000 miles… well, that would complicate things way too much.
“Yeah. Except I can’t really control the distance factor.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“I am. Ashley’s not going to move here; I could never ask her to do that anyway. And I have a once-in-a-lifetime job that-“
“That you hate.”
“Carrie, I don’t want to have this conversation right now,” I groaned.
“Fine. But what’s more important to you, Spencer? Your job, or Ashley?”
“Don’t project your problems with Chris onto me! Ashley and I are nothing like the two of you.”
“Right.”
“We’re not, and you know it. That’s why you’re so bitter!” I yelled.
“Tell me, Spencer. How are you and Ashley so different?”
“Because we love each other!” I shouted. Whoa. Maybe that was a bit harsh. I stood there, trying to regain my composure. Carrie looked like she’d just been shot in the heart. Okay, maybe that was a bit dramatic. But she did look pretty stunned. A pained look crossed her face, and I could see that tears were beginning to form in her eyes.
“Maybe so. Maybe he doesn’t love me anymore. But at least I have the balls to tell him that I do.” And with that, she shot up from the table and stormed out of my apartment. One friend gone, none in my reserves. Tears filled my eyes as I realized just how harsh I’d been and I let them flow freely. Everything in my life was getting so confusing right now; I didn’t know how I’d be able to handle it.

When I saw the title and it said “My name is Spencer Carlin and I messed up”, I automatically thought ‘oh no, Ashley and Spencer are going to fight again. I was so worried. Is it sad that I’m relieved that Spencer is fighting with just Carrie? Spencer still needs to apologize though. Yes, Spencer and Ashley are definitely in a relationship, even if that’s not what they’re calling it. HELLO ASHLEY! When you don’t want to sleep with other people, that’s called a relationship. Now just stop being so stubborn and make it official. Man, I SO love this story. I can’t wait until you update again so please do so soon.
Have you noticed I’ve been the first to comment on the last several chapters? I’m not sure that’s something to be proud of. In fact, it probably means I have no life but I can’t help it. I love this story!
I forgot to say one thing. How sweet was Ashley in sending Spencer a sweatshirt and a toy for Benny!! So sweet! Okay, I promise, I’m done now.
awww yay ashley for being the biggest sweetheart EVER! well…almost. if she’d just friggin admit they’re in a relationship spencer wouldn’t so effed up. and carrie’s right! spencer does hate her job, she needs to just give it up. do it for her and ashley. happiness is what they both deserve. excellent update!!

I love this story ,Omg the sweatshirt part was soooo sweet, that was like the cutest thing ever!! I would pretty much accept a sock from ashley…joking, well not really i would lmao lol love this chapter can’t wait for the next. keep up the good work :D

ok…first of all – phew! i thought that spence and ash were going to fight…but secondly…what the heck! spencer was sooo mean to carrie. i feel soo bad for her. hopefully they can make up and be happy! and thank goodness for Carrie actually telling spencer that she hates her job…can’t wait for the next one!
Alright, so did an alien inhabit Spencer or something? You know, a really mean, harsh alien? Hah, now that would make for an interesting plot twist…anyways, I love your story and can’t wait for the next chapter.
Apologise Spence :( Or just pack up and move to LA leaving Carrie to do whatever it is she does. PMS
