“And Glen?”
“Glen’s life hasn’t changed much. He’s single, and working as an assistant coach for a middle school basketball team.”
Ashley chuckled, “Ah, that boy. I knew he was going places.”
Spencer grinned. “What about your mom? How’s she?”
The smile disappeared from Ashley’s face. She looked down at her plate. “Uh, my mom. I haven’t spoken to her since I moved out. So, that would be… three years.”
Frowning, Spencer softly said, “Ash… I’m sorry.”
Ashley shrugged. “It’s better this way, really. We never got along. All we did was argue.”
“How about when your dad died? Did she contact you then?”
“No. We did all our communicating through lawyers.”
Spencer’s frown deepened. “I don’t understand how a mother can do that, write her child out of her life.”
“What makes you think it wasn’t the other way around? That I wasn’t the one to write her out of my life?”
“Oh. I, I don’t know. I just assumed…”
Ashley smiled, “To be honest, it was kind of mutual. After I moved out, weeks went by and neither of us had bothered to contact the other. Before I realized it, weeks turned into months, months turned into years, and we were no longer apart of each other’s lives.” She took another bite of her salad. Chewed. Swallowed. “But, enough about my relationship with my mother, or lack there of. Let’s talk about something else…”
Spencer accepted the request to change the subject. She started a new one off with, “Corey mentioned that you bartend on the week nights.”
“Yeah, at the Radisson. Monday through Thursday. I like it. It’s a lot tamer than the bar or club scene.” The curly-haired woman smiled, “So, um, speaking of Corey, she’s a really cool girl. I like her a lot.”
Spencer nodded, smiling. “Yeah, she’s amazing. She likes you a lot, too. Which is good. I was kind of worried about how that whole living situation would turn out. But it seems to be going well.”
“Yeah, it’s great. It’s fun having her around.” Ashley twirled her fork over in her hand, deep in thought. “The two of you — you and Corey, I mean — you guys fit, you know? You make sense.” She smiled slightly. “More sense than you and I ever made.”

DOODLE!! Oh man I missed you so much. And then there’s an update! It’s like christmas only in November! Oh and it was good. Stupid stupid Ashley. And Spencer, oh she’s so cut up about it. But if she’s this cut up now… oh this doesn’t bode well for Corey does it. Man. I feel sorry for her already. Although, you could be novel and have the first Spashley fic not to actually HAVE a Spashley. that would be… HORRIBLE. Don’t do it. I’ll pay you not to do it. I’ll kidnap you and offer you… cheese. smooth, Ash, very smooth ;-) wicked update mate! hope they sort themselves out and get on – I think a drunken gathering at Ash’s place is in order, a few home truths coming out, maybe the revelation of a few feelings that have been brought back to the surface? actually, shit, no, that was my night last night ;-) more soon please! okay, when i saw that you had updated, i couldnt stop smiling. then about half way through reading it…wow…no more smiles doodle! but alas, this lack of spashley does not take away from the talent you present in each and every post. i must say you have been missed dearly on this site, and its great to hear from you again. so thank you…for just being you! :)

Well, I have to say, don’t say it if you don’t mean it!!! You’re screwing with people when you promise something like that. It’s like dangling a carrot in front of our poor bunny noses and then snatching it away! I was practically salivating!! No joke. Yeah, so when you said you would have the chapter up, I took you rather seriously, at your word, and I’ve been dying for this part!! I thought we might get a Spashley moment, but this wasn’t exactly what I had in mind…haha..that’s okay though. I know the payoff will be huge, colossal!! Like nothing else. So keep writing, and if you do dangle a carrot in front of our noses, for the love of God, do not take it away!!!

omg it is like christmas to me cos all my fave authors have updated today!!! woohooo!! you’re the only one who wrote a believable story where spencer may be better with someone else. i dunno why you fret bout posting this cos it’s amazing! i felt all the anger and frustration that spencer is feeling. wth is ash thinking? and it’s obvious both of them have never really moved on. if they still feel so much hurt from the break up then they were never truly over. god ash has gotta make it up to spence somehow. dont stay away too long ok? pls pls update!

fuck fuck fuck…i agree, damn it. that didn’t go so well! but ashley would’ve been too stinted around spencer if she didn’t tell her what was really on her mind. spencer reacted vehemently, their breakup was such a difficult part in her life and for her to have thought it was her fault…sucks. but after four years, i wouldn’t have expected her to react like that unless she still felt something for ashley. or i’m stupid. and thats usually the case! great update though, thank you.
