Days Of Future Past – (Chapter: 101)

“Sure,” responded Steele, then he turned to his blonde boss, “why didn’t you bring Billy into this case?”

“Because Billy doesn’t like to lose, he’s not good at it; he will want to plead out the minute the going gets rough.  I didn’t want that attitude on this case.  Christina has a flair for finding obscure cases to reference; Pelusa has close ties to people on the street.  Jessica is very steadfast, and thorough, and Potter is a fresh face that might just bring something to the table.”

Steele pursed his lips, “Well thought out, then why me?”

“Because if I didn’t let you in on this case, you’d have been yelling about it for weeks, instead of minutes.  Now if you’ll excuse me.”  Alex moved to her office, slamming the door shut and diving into her work.

“Where do we start?”  Potter asked Jessica Rossi.  Jessica threw the file onto the desk, removing her jacket and pushing her black hair from her eyes.

“Hit the records room, find out if he owns land, rents an apartment, anything you can.  Check his bank accounts.  I’m going to see if he has any underground connections.”  Jessica grabbed the phone, then looked at Potter.  “Well?”

Nick looked surprised, and then jumped from his chair, “Right!”

“What sort of underwear he wore?”  Christina repeated with a smirk, both she and Brian were in her office.  Brian chuckled, rolling his hand in front of his chest.

“I think it was a figure of speech.”

                “I know that, Brian.”

“Oh,” said Brian, “of course you did.  So do you want to go over this over, say, some take out?”  Christina narrowed her eyes, and then she shrugged.

“Sure, I didn’t have any plans for tonight.”

“Thursday night, and no plans?  That’s a shame.”  Brian stated, snatching up the phone and dialing a seemingly well known number.  “What do you want?”

Christina Finn almost asked if Brian was on the menu, instead, “Anything is good, as long as you order me a few egg rolls.”
