Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 32: Tic Tac Taco (Part B ))

“Oh, and I bet your father would be so proud.” Glen grinned triumphantly.

Easy flinched. “Just get out of here,” he said weakly.

Smirking, Glen walked to the door. Easy stopped him momentarily by saying, “Karma’s a bitch, y’know.”

Glen shook his head. “Oh, go write a song about it.”

“So, how do you think they’ll react?” Cecile asked her niece. They were back to discussing telling Spencer’s parents.

“Uhh… They’ll bury me alive,” she said simply, “and dance on my grave.” She tapped her fingers on the table to mimic dancing.

Cecile rolled her eyes and swatted Spencer’s hands off the table. “Sounds like a party to me.”

The blonde mocked a frown. “Remember me?” she pouted.

Cecile rubbed her temples. “You’ve gone soft on me, Kiddo. I thought I helped raise a strong girl.”

“My God were you wrong…” Spencer’s head dropped to the table, once again, where she covered it with her arms.

“I’ll be damned if I was!” Cecile shoved Spencer somewhat harshly. “Man up!” Spencer stared up at her aunt in slight horror. “You love the girl, don’t you?” The teen nodded slowly. “Then wake up, Spencer Carlin! You’re being ridiculous!”

Spencer simply sat there staring at her aunt, mouth agape.

Easy had been teaching Ashley the basics to Guitar Hero for a short while. His anger had subsided from earlier, so he was able to enjoy himself once again. Glen was still an ass, of course; he always was.

“Stupid yellow button!” Ashley yelled, and then coughed from the strain.

“Calm yourself, Wild-Woman,” Easy chided with a laugh. “You’re only on easy.”

“Yeah, well it sucks,” she said absentmindedly as she leaned forward with a furrowed brow trying to concentrate. The game crowd booed her as she failed out. “Fuckin’ A,” she cursed as she threw down the guitar controller.

“Hey, gotta start somewhere,” Easy comforted as he took the controller for himself. “My turn.”

Easy could play most the songs on expert and pass with an acceptable grading. He didn’t even try; it just happened like that. You’ve heard of a lightness of foot, well, Easy had the lightness of finger… whatever the hell that was.

Ashley sat back against the headboard as she watched Easy set the difficulty to hard and choose Through the Fire and Flames by Dragon Force. The song was simply ridiculous.
