Everything And Nothing – (Chapter: All that I want, You’re All That I Need)

The soft hum of the acoustic guitar reached Ashley’s ears and she nodded at Spencer for her to get ready. Madison was pacing in the back corner, muttering under her breath in Spanish and Sam was leaning against one of the pavilion walls biting her nails. The whole wedding party seemed jittery, Kyla was hurriedly trying to tie Aiden’s necktie without choking him and then it was time. The wedding was outside and about one hundred white chairs were set up on the green hill that overlooked the lake. Aiden and Kyla were the first ones down the aisle, shuffling slowly arm in arm. Ashley closed her eyes and tried to imagine what it might be like when it was her getting married. Will it be Spencer? She wondered. Madison’s cousins were next, a girl and boy in their teens and they loped down the aisle quickly.

Ashley had been caught up in her own thoughts and she didn’t feel Spencer nudging her. It was time. She linked arms with Spencer and stepped out onto the white linen footpath. The path was covered in light pink rose petals and the wind blew them slightly. Spencer glanced at her as they walked and her smile was contagious. The soft pink of Spencer’s dress, made her skin positively glow and Ashley didn’t want to let go of her arm when they reached the end of pathway. There was a large wooden arch which had been stained white and draped with greenery that lay between both parties. Pink roses adorned the sides of the arch. Spencer held Ashley’s gaze and both girls were unable to look away. The music shifted to light piano piece, and Sam appeared at the end of walkway with her Uncle.

The usually plain girl had transformed, dressed in an off-white strapless dress that cut off before her knees. Her hair was curled to perfection and fell loosely against her shoulders. The crowd stood admiring her as she walked gracefully down the aisle finally reaching the side where Ashley was standing with Aiden. The brunette heard the girl let out a sigh as her Uncle kissed her cheek lightly, letting go of her hands and returning to his seat. The guests then turned their attention to Madison, who stood before them with her father. She looked stunning in her pale pink gown that cut off mid calf, and she had styled her hair in a half up half down mess of curls. Watching Sam, Ashley felt a pang of nervousness for the other girl, she looked positively petrified. Madison’s father walked her all the way to Sam and then placed Madison’s hands into Sam’s.
