Everything Changes After Spending 7 Months Apart – (Chapter: Girl, Save your soul before you're too far gone. Before Nothing can be done. Without me, you've got it all.)
It was Thursday and I was excited for the day to be over with. It meant that I was only that much closer to having my Friday night with two of my favorite people: Ashley Davies and Jose Cuervo. It was my job to get the tequila and her job to get the margarita mix and cigarettes. It wasn’t quite a party, I think that requires more than two people, but it was definitely going to be fun.
“So I was talking to Mom earlier and she was asking me about Sean.” Ashley says over the phone. “And so I was telling her about how we progressed into him being my boyfriend and…” I didn’t hear anything past that, though she continued speaking.
Since when was he her boyfriend? When did that happen? Why didn’t I know? I couldn’t believe it. I knew I would have to let go eventually, but I thought I had more time. I have no problem letting her go, but I have to work toward it. I have only been working toward it for a day or so. I was looking forward to one last weekend for us to be together before I officially let go. But now, she has a boyfriend. So as the rules state, she is off limits.
When you always have to let go of the person you’re in love with, you get used to it and it doesn’t hurt because you know that being a friend is more important. But when you are blindsided, it kind of stings a little bit.
“Wait, pause” I say, interrupting her completely. “Rewind, play, slow motion: boyfriend? Since when”
“Oh, well I mean it just happened less than an hour ago. It just kind of happened. It’s exciting right?” She explains.
“Yeah, it is. Um…congratulations on the new relationship status” I said slowly. It sounded like more of a question than anything else.
“Thanks. So what ever happened to that guy you had been flirting with on Facebook?” She asks. She doesn’t want me to be alone. I appreciate the concern. I don’t want to be alone either. It’s much easier to be around couples when you are a couple with someone.
She is referring to Jason. He is twenty-three years old and fresh out of jail. Now before you go passing judgments, you should know that he didn’t murder anyone or do anything all that bad. He only ended up on probation due to getting caught racing. While on probation, they drug tested him and he failed for marijuana. I smoke weed, so I can’t judge him on that. As far as the racing goes – well luckily I like going fast.
