First to break – (Chapter: Same old)

I made my way over to the sink and turned the tap, directing the cold, powerful stream at the pulse points on my wrists in an attempt to cool myself down – I could feel my blood boiling at the mere thought of Madison.  As my pulse began to settle again I dried my hands and dumped the paper tissue in the trash, before returning to my pale reflection in the mirror.  The bathroom was pretty dark, and I was alone.  The lights were untraviolet in a bid to stop junkies from shooting up because, in that light, it was impossible to find a vein, but they also succeeded in making me look a complete mess.  I had dark rings under my lids from a severe lack of sleep, my skin was dry and my eyes lacked their usual shine.  In a bid to try to freshen up I applied a new layer of lipstick and more concealer under my eyes.  Blowing myself a kiss, I turned and marched out the door, stopping abruptly in my tracks when I noticed who had sat themselves down at my table next to Aiden.

Madison was there, short skirt resembling a belt, one leg crossed over the other as she leaned in towards Aiden, her head thrown back in a fake laugh that was supposed to make her look appealing.  It just made her look very obvious – like a royal slut.  Aiden appeared uncomfortable, his eyes scanning around in my direction but not quite noticing me in the darkened corner I’d hidden myself in to remain unseen.  I wondered where her friends were, and why she found herself sitting with my company as opposed to being with company of her own.

My cell suddenly beeped from in my purse and as I dug it out I discovered that Aiden had texted me only minutes before.

“Run while u still can – Madisons here!  Or on 2nd thoughts, come save me, she’s freakin me out! Ax”

I laughed quietly to myself.  Aiden’s discomfort in her presence was obvious for all to see, without me having to read a text message informing me so.

“Ur on your own, kid!  I’m going 2 the bar – tell me wen she’s gone!  O, and keep my drink away from her – fuck knows what she’ll do to it!”
