Forgetting Bella Swan
Aubrey woke up feeling great. She showered and changed into a pair of dark washed daisy dukes and a beige tank top. She trotted downstairs and quickly ate the omelet Elizabeth had made her. After that, she got in her midnight blue convertible and headed to Jacob's house. When she arrived, she was happy to see that Jacob's red car was in the driveway. She parked and went up to the door, knocking anxiously. A few minutes later, Billy answered the door with a big smile.
"Aubrey!"
"Hi, Mr. Black!"
"Oh none of that Mr. Black stuff! You can call me Billy! Or dad, when you're comfortable enough."
Billy smiled warmly and Aubrey giggled.
"I'll keep that in mind," She smiled warmly. "Hey, is Jacob home?"
"Oh no, not right now. He's on patrol. He should be back in a few minutes. Would you like to come inside and wait for him?"
"Sure!"
Billy rolled out of the way and Aubrey came in, shutting the door behind her. Billy went to the cupboard and pulled out two glasses and filled them with fresh apple juice. Together they sat at the kitch table and enagaged in idle chatter for a little while. Aubrey then remembered what Noemi had asked her to do.
"Billy, do you happen to know some named Bella?"
Billy froze for a moment. Her question came out of nowhere. He wanted to ask her how she knew about Bella. He wanted to know who told her and why they told her. Obviously Jacob hadn't told her, and the rest of the pack wouldn't tell her. Who on earth would bring her up?
"Um…she's my friend's daughter."
"Does she live around here?"
"She lives in Forks. That's not too far away."
Aubrey nodded, trying to think of more questions to ask.
"Does Jake hang out with her?"
Billy gasped quietly. He was uncomfortable with the whole Bella situation, even though it was pretty much over. He just wanted to move on and never speak of it again. But he also felt that Aubrey had a right to know. He just didn't want to be the one to tell her.
