Chapter 1- The Hunt
I hurdled myself up and behind the overturned table with graceful leap and used the few seconds I gained to collect myself and form a new plan. Grumbling, I looked down and swore under my breath there was a large cut on my leg and it had started to bleed pretty bad. Damn! It didn't hurt much, that wasn't the issue I could handle my fair share of pain, but I LOVED these pants I had just gotten them too! Not only that the smell of blood was probably going to drive the vamp I was trying to kill absolutely nuts making it that much harder to kill, wonderful. Leaping to my feet again I twirled to face the vampire ready to get this over and done with. The vampire was crouched at the end of the room looking fiercely at me with onyx black eyes and hissing, this one was just a newborn, strong, I had to admit, but still a cinch to kill. I smiled as the creature finally took a breath and smelled the blood. Knowing what was coming I grinned, braced myself and made a mocking come get me gesture and watched as the bloodthirsty monster lunged at me. Now if I was normal I would be terrified, running away but definintely dying anyways, but then again I never said I was normal did I. Not me, Cat Sanders, no I laugh in the face of danger! I tower over adversity! I well… ok… I fight vampires. Thats right I am a vampire hunter, the cool thing was I got super strength and reflexes with it too. So when the vamp lunged at me I saw the opening I had been waiting for. As it lunged I bent slightly and lifted my leg so that it impacted with the vampires stomach sending it crashing back into the wall behind and continuing through to the next room.
"Brought you guys a present!" I yelled and jumped through the hole I had just created. My two best friends (well I guess since I had no other friends the 'best' part was kinda pointless but hey why not I loved them enough), were standing over the bodies of another vampire already dismembered and waiting to be burned.
"Wonderful Cat, nice remodelling you've done." one of the boys, Jeremy, nodded his head towards the hole in the wall I had just come through, as him and my other friend Andy jumped on the vamp I just kicked and held it down. I shrugged as I knelt over the vamp and broke its neck. The three of us them began to struggle to dismember the vampire and shove it with the other then lighting the pile on fire we watched it burn. Don't take me wrong I'm not foolish I knew what I did was dangerous and I'm not naive I knew that the vampires I fought were stronger than me and extrememly dangerous but that was my coping mechanism for what I had been thrust into, recklessness and humor. I snuck a quick glance at the two boys standing beside me, they were my family now, all I had left. There was Jeremy, lanky and tall with sandy blond hair that was on the longer side and just slightly wavy and cool piercing blue eyes, I swear if his life had been different he could have meen a model or a movie star or something like that. Then there was Andy almost the complete opposite of Jeremy, he was shorter but had more muscles, his eyes were chocolate brown and he sported a short haircut of the darkest black. Smiling ruefully I owed these two my life and vice versa, they were my brothers, but I couldn't help wishing that I had never been in the situation to meet them. Silently the three left the burning building and made their way to their homeOnce we got home I plopped myself right down onto the couch and flicked on the tv. My dirty blond hair, which had always been annoying to me since it never did what I wanted it to, was a complete wreck half of it out of the messy bun I had sported and completely covered in dust and grime. I didn't care though, its not like I was trying to impress anyone anyways, and I was tired. Jeremy however didn't feel the same as I did and beelined it to the bathroom for a shower. Andy walked over and was going to join me when he looked down and sighed.
"Geez, Cat you're bleeding all over the couch! How bad did you get hurt?"
I looked at him briefly confused but then I remembered about the cut on my leg, "Oh CRAP! I forgot about that, its nothing, only a scratch but I should take care of it." I bolted off the couch leaving him the remote and went into the kitchen to grab a cloth to clean my leg. I stalked to my bedroom, thank god I was a girl and didn't have to share a bedroom with the other two, and grumbled as I took off my now ruined, new black pants and tossed them in a corner to be thrown out. I wiped the gash, it was a bit deeper than I thought but was nothing I was concerned about after it was cleaned and bandaged I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. I flung myself onto my bed and snuggled into my comfy fuzzy brown blanket and fell asleep quickly, the sounds of both the shower and Andy's laughter (must be watching some comedy show, maybe SNL or something like that) faded out as I slipped into unconsciousness and was plagued by one of my constant nightmares.
