    Growing Up – (Chapter: Pressure)

“I don’t know.”  I shake my head in defeat.

“Is it Spencer?  I noticed you guys haven’t talked in a while.”  This side of her is very disarming and I am finding it difficult to fight my natural instinct to hold back my feelings.  I bring both hands to my face to rub away the pressure in my temples.

“It’s so many things.”  I walk to the edge of my bed and sit down.  She follows closely and takes a seat next to me, wrapping her arm around my shoulder.  “I have so many papers due; I don’t even know where to begin.  My mom is pressuring me to come home more often, because her new man ‘wants to be involved’.  I barely have time to sleep anymore.  On top of all that, I can’t even turn to the one person who is supposed to always be there for me and I just feel like I’m loosing her completely.”  I bow my head and I can feel the involuntary tears streak down the sides of my face.  “I can’t even blame her though, because half the time I’m too buried in work to even notice.”  The tears are overpowering now and I bring my hand to my face to cover my eyes.

“Hey.”  She rubs her hand along my back trying to comfort me.  “You’re not alone in this.”  I look up at her through tear filled eyes.  “You have me.”  I lean into her and cry on her shoulder as she silently holds me.  Just by getting the words out and having her there to comfort me, I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted from my shoulders.  “Everything is going to be okay.”  I sit back up and wipe at the corners of my eyes with the back of my hand.

    “I hope so.”

“You want me to go see if I can find your notebook?”

“No.  I’ll go; I think the walk will do me good anyway.”

“I’ll come with you then.”  Normally I would object and insist that I am capable of handling the task myself, but I feel like I need the company right now.

    1. I knew it! I mean if people don’t pick up on this it’s because they are not smart enough. The clues are so clear, crystal clear: 1. You said that this was different than memories. What could be more different than a futuristic fic with clones? 2. Jesse looks like Ashley 3. Jesse has no feelings, just like a robot 4. Spencer does not care about Jesse much And the clues go on and on and on. Now this new one, Spencer’s clone? Of course spencer put her there, to complicate things. Or maybe it was Dani (ohh and the plot thickens) I know I’m runining ALL your surprises, but what can I say, I’m a very smart reader. Anyway, another great chapter.

    2. Clones are too unpredictable…Ash hooks up with some engineering students and they create a Spencerbot…now there’s futuristic…and they all live happily ever after :-) Ah, but where is the drama in that…and it’s been done on Buffy :-(

    3. I completely feel for Ashely right now. I am a first year college student right now, and I am also on the volleyball team. So everything is even that much more hectic. I know how everything can almost just hit you at once. And its not only stressful, it also makes you second guess yourself like…is this where I really belong? Is this for me?? I guess I am more talking about me now more than Ashley! Anyway, maybe a relationship (sexual of not) would be good for Ashely right now, she needs someone to turn to right now, especially if Spencer is not there (although you know how much we all wish she was!!). So fantastic writing and I anxiously look forward to your post as always!!

    4. aw, it was nice of dani…she’s a good friend, but i think she should let ash move on by herself…or a least not push her too hard. although, i couldn’t agree more on the things she said…another great chapter, as usual =)

    5. DAMN…how’d things go from being so nice to fucked up??…well dani kinda does have a point, i think it would have been good for her to go hook up with a clone of spence…then go visit…i wanna see that happen…ohhhh lol j/k but yea she needs to get a grip…no joke post more soon! i love! : )

    11. I love, love, love this story. Casey you are a fantastic writer! So sad, Spence biding her time with the Ash clone and Ash shutting herself out from everyone else waiting for Spence. I have faith that you will eventually lead these two soulmates back together. Post again real soon…..please?!?!?
