Nikki was concerned for Helen and wanted to go to her.

Standing she left John with these words. "As I see it you have two choices. Either try to understand and respect Helen’s choices thereby keeping her love. Or cut her from your life and end up a lonely old man. We are not the enemy here Mr Stewart. We are two women in love who choose to be together. Nothing you say or do will change that. Helen loves you and needs you so don’t push her away because she isn’t living up to your standards. I"m sure you love your daughter very much so think carefully before condeming her."

With that said Nikki told him where to find clean towels and pointed to his room then bid him goodnight.

Nikki found Helen sobbing in her pillow. Sitting beside her on the bed Nikki pulled her up into her arms. For the moment words didn’t seem important as she lovingly stroked Helen’s face and kissed away her tears. Nikki knew only too well what Helen was feeling. Her own heart had been broken by her families rejection. Nikki had missed them over the years and didn’t want Helen to feel the pain she had. Family was important to Nikki and one day she had hopes of her and Helen completing theirs. Helen’s sobs subsided and she moved away from Nikki.

"I’m so sorry you had to hear all that." she said.

"I’m just glad I was there for you sweetheart." Nikki replied

"Oh Nikki what are we going to do? He’s my dad and I hate seeing him this upset."

"It’s okay darling. Give him a chance. He’ll come around you’ll see." Nikki hoped this would be the case. "Think of the bright side, what would have happened if I hadn’t paid a small fortune to get this new bed delivered! No spare bed for your dad to sleep on….. Can you imagine his indignation if we said, ‘Sorry you’ll have to sleep on the sofa because I tore up your bed because Sean had been sleeping on it and we are using the spare room."

Taking Helen in her arms Nikki kissed her reassuringly.
