Invisible – (Chapter: 22)
“Fuck you, table, fuck you!” I screamed clunching onto my knee. I heard the door open and someone coming up stairs. “Ashley…there’s someone in my house…” I said scared. Ashley didn’t reply back.
My door knob began to jiggle and it opened. I closed my eyes and held onto my knee. The person came next to me and kneeled down next to me. Their breathe was hovering me as they touched my knee. I flinched a little and opened one eye.
“Spencer…what happened?” Ashley replied examing my knee that was beginning to swell.
“How the fuck did you get here?” I asked not sure what was happening.
“Well, I was talking to you for a minute asking if I could come over and I was by your front door when I heard a crash and you began to yell so I came up her and found you here.” She replied smiling her wonderful Ashley smile.
“I can’t believe you here.”
“I’m just glad I came when I did.” She laughed as her face lit up.
“I’m sor-”
Her index finger made its way to my lips shushing me. She shook her head and grinned.
“Apologies are for later.”
She picked me up and carried me over to me bed. I almost forgot how extremely strong she was.
“Let me get you some ice.” She replied and headed out of my room. I lay down on my bed in pain. I can’t believe she was here, in my room. It was just a couple days ago when I left her here crying as I went off angry. And now she was her when I was in pain to comfort me. She interrupted my thoughts by placing an unbelievably cold ice pack onto my knee.
I moaned lightly as the throbbing pain began to slowly numb. She made her way up to the top of my bed where I sat. She leaned against the head board and closed her eyes.
“I haven’t gotten the real invite to come over…so I guess-”
“No, please, stay.” I said.
“I didn’t want to like barge in or anything. It’s just that I was worried.”
“It’s fine, Ash. Really.”
“Okay, whatever you say.”
The room fell silent except for the heaving breathing coming from Ashley.
“Are you having trouble breathing?” I laughed. Her eyes opened and snorted.
“No I am not having trouble breathing. I just miss the smell of your house.”
“Ahh the smell of sweat and unwashed clothes.”
“It smells good doesn’t it?” Ashley responded inhaling heavily.
“You smell good.” I replied touching the ice pack on my knee. The pain has disappeared…
