Just before Dusk
“oh..” was all my mother seemed to be able to say. “how sad, I can't believe I thought.. i was going to say. I am so sorry i jumped to conclusions Edward, i know you love my daughter very much. It’s just she looked so much like you” she laughed uneasy “I’m just crazy”
I didn’t really know what to say, for some reason she didn’t notice that Renesmee also looked like me, but I wasn’t going to push it. A few days ago me and Edward had sat Renesmee down and explained a few things about my mother and Phil’s visit, we told her she couldn’t be as comfortable with them right away like she was with grandpa Charlie, that she had to be very careful. Of course she completely understood, and would do her best. “Well did you want to go to dinner? Me and Edward thought we could go get some food and catch up”
“Sounds fantastic!” my mother exclaimed.

We took the Volvo, it being the less conspicuous car out of the bunch that were owned. We also decided to take Renesmee with us, since she still did not like to physically talk to much it helped, and she knew not to show Renee or Phil anything, not yet at least, perhaps never. The car ride had been more awkward then I had anticipated, I offered Phil the front seat so I could sit with my mother and Renesmee, but he declined. It was basically silently the whole way there, little questions asked here or there, Edward whispered low enough for only me to hear. “She’s thinking of what to ask you at dinner… she’s going to have a lot of questions” I sighed, this is not what I wanted, but I knew it would come.
She had asked us where we were going, especially since Nessie was coming with us, she figured a kid friend place would probably be best. If she only knew how well mannered our little one was, but she couldn’t, not yet, she had to think of her as a actual 4 year old. So we drove a little bit out of town to this ‘child friendly’ restaurant as my mother would call it.
