Moments Like That – (Chapter: 2 – Moving On)

“Hey.” Glen says as Spencer hops in the car. It doesn’t take long for him to notice her puffed red eyes. “What happened?”

“I talked to her.” She glances over her brother and just a couple of seconds later, breaks down and cries. He takes her in his arms and tries to soothe her pain.

“It’s okay, Spence.” He brushes a couple of locks away from his sister’s face. “Did you tell her about…” The blonde nods quickly, taking a deep breath.

“I dunno why, but I did. I was just so cold and mean, Glen. I just wanted to hurt her as much as she hurt me.” Glen tightens his hold of Spencer, trying to take her pain away.

“I know, sis. I know.” They stay there holding each other for what seems forever. Spencer had never hugged her brother in her entire life as much as she did on the past few months. “Let’s get going.” He says pulling back and shifting the car into drive. “I should probably tell you this right now.” He says after a few minutes into the ride. “Aiden is in my basketball team at UCLA.” He glances at his sister and catches her rolling eyes.

“I hope you understand that I’m not going to any of your games.” Spencer mutters looking out the window.

“Don’t worry. He’s second string.” Glen says with a smirk.

The girl looks at her brother curious. “And you…”

“First, ha!” Both siblings smile at the news.

“See how therapy would bring you back in shape? I’m so glad for you, Glen.” After Clay’s death, no one in the family wanted to deal with nothing. It was up to Spencer to encourage her brother to go to physiotherapy and chase his basketball dream.

“I know. If it wasn’t for you pretty much forcing me to go, I wouldn’t be back.” As they drive through the streets of LA, Glen soon begins talking about his first day at college, his classes and his new friends. For those fifteen minutes ride, it almost felt like everything was normal, peaceful.
