Never Say Vampire
Out of nowhere, someone snuck up behind Danny and threw a rope around his neck. He struggled to free himself but half the town jumped on him, knocking him down. A few dug knives into his chest but that won’t kill a vampire. “If anything should happen to me, I want you to leave this village. Just run until you can’t run anymore.” Danny’s words echoed through my head. Almost everyone was trying to kill him. “Never say never. Say ‘vampire’ and they will come. Say ‘never’ and it will happen.” Danny’s growling and snarling filled the air. I turned to run. I didn’t even know where I was running to, only that I could still hear his screams. The cold air and tears stung my eyes as I ran. I could still hear him. Then everything was silent.
I still think about that day even now. After that, I took a boat to England to try and start my time over. The new change of scenery was partially what I needed; fresh air and new faces. After about a month here, my nightmares started coming back. They were about Danny and me. I’ve taken to not sleeping so I don’t have to see him suffer over and over again. I miss him a lot now. He was the only friend I actually had and understood what I went through. I always dreamed of one day falling in love with him and starting a family. But like most dreams it didn’t come true. I’ve met some very nice people here, and, guess what, I blend in here so well. We all have very pale skin and some others here are vampires. But I don’t think I can go on anymore. Being here for two centuries and watching the people you love grow old and die while you live on forever. It’s already the year 1870 and so much has changed. Last month I took a boat back to the old village where I lived my most cursed life. I gave int. I’m revealing myself. I can’t go on. I just can’t. I gave my word to John that I would protect myself, and I have for two hundred long years. Now I can finally say good-bye like I was supposed to. So I say it now, good-bye everyone. I wish you the good life I never had.
