    The day they’ve both been waiting for.

    “May we all be seated,” the minister said quietly, and that signaled the last of the words Ashley heard from him for the next few moments, instead choosing to focus on Spencer. Needless to say, she was shocked moments later when the blonde raised her eyebrows as if she was waiting for her to say something.

    The minister cleared his throat, “Ashley, your vows?”

    “Oh, I…sorry,” Ashley replied, stumbling over her words nervously, “Sp-spence, I guess more than anything…I want to promise you my sincerity. I promise that I will love you more and more everyday and that I’ll never get tired of seeing you smile or hearing your voice. I promise that I’ll be your biggest fan and your most loyal supporter and that I’ll never let a day go by without letting you know that you’re the most incredible person I’ve ever known. I want to spend the rest of my life memorizing the person that you are and seeing you grow and knowing that you’re only getting better over time. I know…I know that this isn’t perfect…what I’m saying. Because how I feel about you is so much deeper than telling you I think you’re great or saying that I love you. But I have to say those things because they’re true. I wish that you could know…really know how in love with you I am and how excited I am that we’re here right now. But like, I said…it’s impossible. The truth is, you’re my savior…and I’d like to believe that I’m yours and that we’ve saved each other from this…this place they call reality. We’re too good for it, you know. And I’m just so fucking happy, Spencer. I can’t say that enough. I mean, look at us. We’re here and we’re doing this and I’ve never been more filled with hope or joy in my entire life. So I guess what I’m saying is that I take you to be my friend, my lover, my wife, the mother of my future children, my partner, my confidant…and whatever else people say when they promise themselves to someone for eternity. I love you.”

    Ashley nodded, the tears slowly streaming down her face no matter how hard she fought against them. Seeing Ashley’s tears brought them to Spencer’s eyes as well, and before they knew it, they were both laughing as if they were sharing a private moment alone instead of standing in front of one-hundred staring faces.

    “Sorry,” Spencer said, using her thumb to wipe away a tear that was making its way down the brunette’s face, “Ashley, I want to first say thank you. Thank you for waiting for me and trusting that one day we’d be together even when I had given up on us. There was never a day that I didn’t think about you when we were apart. There was never a moment that went by that wouldn’t have been better spent with you. And you knew it. Thank you. We both know that there are no guarantees in anything, but I feel fairly certain that you and I are in this forever and just saying it fills me with this warmth I could never explain. But I know that you feel it too. I promise that no one else will ever come between us, I promise that I’m not giving up this time, I promise that no matter what…I love you and we’ll make it through whatever life throws at us next. I can’t wait to wake up everyday next to the best thing that ever happened to me and know she feels the same way. I promise.”

    Ashley smiled as Spencer spoke the last line of her vows, waiting for the minister to give her permission to kiss Spencer’s lips—the same lips that had just said the words that made Ashley the happiest person in the universe.

    “…I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may now kiss your bride.”

    Spencer surprised Ashley by lunging forward first and planting on her the most honest kiss they had ever shared, and in it held the promise she had spoken of moments earlier.
