Not The Type – (Chapter: Right Or Wrong)

“Ash…”Spencer grabs my hand. “Let’s go.” I don’t move. “Ashley.” I flip the guy off in turn to follow my girlfriend out of the store.

We’re a block away from my house and Spencer and I haven’t spoken a word. Today was the first time since we’ve been together that someone has openly spoken negatively of our relationship. We’re both very out. As you know…our parents no, friends, people in schools we’ve attended…hell random people on the street know that we’re gay and together. But like I said no one has approached us or gave us some crazy look…to our face.

Don’t get me wrong because we’ve both had our fare share of run-ins with people who don’t understand our love, but never while we we’re with each other and it’s been a year and a half now.

When we get to the house Spencer uses the key I gave her, months ago, to open the door.

“Baby?” Spencer doesn’t say anything she just goes into my room and flops down on my bed.

“I’m mad at you.” She says turning onto her back.

    “For?” I’m so confused.

“You provoked him Ashl…” Whoa…I have to interrupt.

“He was a fucking jerk, who has probably been perving on you since you started going to that shit hole.”

“Yeah, but that situation could have been avoided.” I sit down on the bed next to her.

“How? By me not going in there with you?”

“No, buy you just letting me pay him and leave.”

“That’s bullshit.” I grab one of her hands and hold it between mine in my lap. “He fucking basically ignored us when we walked up, then barked out how much we owed him. He was fucking pissed that your gay and he didn’t have a chance.”

“Okay…but you didn’t have to get into it with him.” She sits up next to me. “If you didn’t want me to buy the stuff there, that’s fine. We could have just left. We didn’t have to have some stupid confrontation.”

Okay…so this is one of the reasons why it was a good thing we didn’t get into it with other people while we are out together. Spencer tends to not want to call people on their bullshit. I do. Don’t get me wrong if you do something to piss her off she’ll get you. But I, on the other hand, don’t wait. I strike before you do, making her way and my way of solving these types of problems clash.

    2. i loved that you presented the fight this way- where things dont have to get overly dramatic or nasty. it was absolutely realistic and im sure many lesbian couples have had the same discussion/argument. i really like reading about everyday life kinda stuff with spashley :)
